How to get npcs to stop requesting to join crew?

So I've been running a small colony for awhile now and I consistently do the npc quests as they give me something fun to do. But now, half of my npcs are requesting to join my crew and I don't want them to join. I'd like to be able to reject them without evicting/killing them, but whenever I say "not now", they'll keep on asking me. And it gets pretty annoying pretty quickly when 25% of the screen is covered in speech bubbles whenever I enter my colony :/. Anyone know a solution to this?

 

i dont think there is a way. you might have to just deal with it. sorry

There is a simple way which you may not like, remove the colony deed to remove said NPC, then replace for another non crew NPC. If you want a specific race/rare colonist refer to the wiki for what furniture is necessary.
