Modding Help How to fix Mods out of date?

    I am an aboslute newb at modding, but i am willing to learn (a bit). I mainly want to know enough to be able to fix mods that have stopped updating (ex. HatGate - I REALLY want this mod - in Enraged Koala) or have been discontinued, just to be able to have them able to play in the new versions. Any help? I'd like to start with Hat Gate for now.

    Update the .modinfo file in the mod's folder. ( I assume t's called something along the lines of hatgate.modinfo )

    It should look a little like this.

      "name" : "",
      "version" : "Beta v. Enraged Koala",
      "path" : ".",
      "dependencies" : [  ]
    }
    See where I have put "Beta v. Enraged Koala", simply replace whatever is currently there with that.

    That will work in most cases~

    Yeah, i did as much - still won't work right. That's why I asked for help.

    I also want to know how to fix a mod based on an older version of tablua rusa... ill check the files again,...

    Yeah. I actually did check in the files and messed around with a few things, updating confgigs and such. Though I still was unable to get it to work.

    But I hope you figure it out. o ~ o

    It's from AK, so it probably has numeric values in quotes all over the place, which is no longer allowed. Either of you checked the log?

    Okay I've got it running, and have a hatwarper. Crashes on interact, but I can fix that.

    I'll see if I can fix it. I make no promises, especially if it becomes time consuming.

    Ah I actually completely forgot about the quoted number values. o ~ o

    But yeah. I attempted the same thing, I only really gave it a glance, but yeah. Good luck! Make sure you message the creator with the updated resource when you're done. ^ - ^ Perhaps he will upload it.

    Alright the hat warper itself is fixed, but all the hats are generic objects. Probably easy fixes, but it might take a while to get through them all. If it gets tedious I'll just tell you how to do it yourself.

    Update: All items except two working properly.

    Remember that you can use Ctrl + F in notepad++ then select the replace tab to replace one function with another in all open documents.
    Might make it a little less Tedious.

    If you get finished, could you post a log of your changes to see if i could do it on my own with some other mods I have? Some modders didn't update their mods to the point of drag, drop, rename, and go (dump into /mods, change name of version, and play)

    Woot, done. It was just the quoted numbers and the version string. Oh, and he had his file heirarchy set wrong in the .modinfo file, not sure if that would have actually affected anything though.

    I feel like there should be a thread for people to request old (read: pre-FK) mods to be updated. I'ma make it.

    In addition to mod requesting, i think you should have a changelog for young modders so that they can learn to port them - like myself.
