This is very easy that I found my self. I don't know if anyone else knows how to do this. 1. Find your character data in C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Starbound\giraffe_storage\player 2. Make a back up. That part is important 3. Open StarReader. Which is found here: http://c4isbad.com/starreader/ 4. Find your character and open it. 5. Once you found your character you can see you can edit the name. Simply copy and paste this: ^orange;YOUR NAME HERE^white; 6. Done. Save, Download and put the new Character in the player folder. 7. Open Starbound. Then amaze everyone! I decided to show a couple of screenshots for people to see. Sorry if people don't like this. But I thought it would be fun to show people. Since I tried this last night and worked. I don't know of any more colours at the minute. But when I find more (If there is any) then I will be sure to tell you all.
Thanks. I had this site a long time ago (koala) so that I could change the name of my character. But, stupid me didn't save the IP address and my motherboard bit it. BTY, you forgot to mention the it is the .playerfile you need to edit and if you don't delete the existing one from the giraffe_storage/player then SB gets confused.
Pro tip: You can also use hexadecimal values like #FF00FF. To do that, you would put ^#FF00FF; in front of your name. You can also change your name/name color with SBSE and Starcheat. Here's a great site for previewing hexadecimal colors. http://html-color-codes.info/
Yes this works but not too well. I am trying to get a pink name but it always shows as Green on the game Maybe the RGB Code is read differently? Maybe it would be easier making the codes when hacker vision is OFF!
I prefer my pink name. Also I would like to say what this DOES work for Hexadecimal codes in both your character name and the description. If you want to know your description press N and click your character. The description can also be changed on Starreader. Like this: BTW Its just a nice idea I thought of for my description. No advertising is meant by this Aaah I'm so smart
IIRC, your name also changes if you put chat color codes in whilst naming your character initially. For example; if your name were "^Green;Lord Wirin Cannister" in the editor, it would show up as Lord Wirin Cannister. Though this may have changed. Though it unfortunately makes groups much harder, as the color code needs to be included.
It is possible for players to alter their character names to have colors, but I'd like to remind users of a couple of possibly relevant points: - Third-party tools (including save file editors like linked above) are not officially supported, so if you manage to screw up your save(either due to user error or a bad editor) you're on your own. - Not all multiplayer servers allow such coloring. Check with the server owner/operator/admin before adding colors to your name to make sure you won't run into trouble the next time you hop on that community server.
Oh. Thanks. Maybe more people will see it? Thanks for that. This might happen to a few people and bad things might happen. Its nice that people know the possible effects even though I just written out a simple tutorial. This will deffo be helpful to some people.
Should be able to. :/ I mean my characters are only humans. Have you tried with another character of a different race?
