Modding Help How to change .shipworld file to a one I downloaded?

Hi.

I have downloaded a .shipworld file and I am trying to replace it with the one I currently have by the way i have the FCS mod installed.
I have tried many methods I saw while using Mr Google for example Renaming the downloaded file to the current .shipworld and then replacing them.

Just looking for perhaps some help on how to do this.

 

Unless something has changed with this latest update, it should be as simple as backing up the .shipworld file for the character you want, then copying the file name and changing the new one you want to install to match (and placing it in the correct folder, of course).
If this isn't working, what does happen? Does your ship stay the same, does it reset to vanilla default (as it would be if you made a new character without a mod), or something else?

 

Just rename the new shipworld file to be same as old shipworld file name and replace the old file with the new one.

The file name is the same as the characters. That should have been obvious just by looking at them.

 

mine are just a bunch of garbled numbers so yeah no
