Heard about this game a week ago and decided to buy it three days later, in case the beta release was soon. Talk about luck! Even if it might be a while until it's actually ready... So anyway, how will you collect information on what stages of the beta we'll be testing? And can we test more than one?

Hate to break it to you, but the beta isn't actually available for the general public yet. They're still making their preparations.
I believe it is just when you start playing the beta. But I do not know for sure. It is your title, it is tied to trophy points which are given for things like certain post counts, like counts, and days registered among other things.
Why do I get the feeling that everyone will be in Stage 1? ... Oh! right, umm...yea I'll be taking part in Stage 1...Yey Beta!...*cough*
Oh my gosh, I am ecstatic! I have so much planning to do, I vdjfnmvkljdsfn!!!!!! Despite my enthusiasm, though, I'm thinking of waiting for Stage 2. I can handle bugs and spoilers, but I'm thinking I should wait for the more stable stages so I can immerse myself more fully. I'm wondering about servers, though. I don't expect a server would run very smoothly with Stage 1 or 2, but when Stage 3 rolls around, I would hope I could rent a server with Starbound already installed...I don't know how server hosts get the game support they offer, but I guess I'll just have to wait and see. EDIT: Scratch that, I'm pretty sure I won't be able to resist at least poking around a bit. Then when I get impatient with crashes and bugs, I'll wait. . . or maybe not. Agh! So pumped!!
