It all depends on the fate.
Will it get lets plays by popular people? Will it be good? Will it still die for some stupid reason?

Starbound will be a massive economic failure and Tiy will be reduced to homelessness.

Then why did you go off topic in the first place? I have nothing nice to say to you. They'd probably be the same words M'aiq would say..

100,000-1,000,000 any more than that is unlikely esspecially since most of the community of Starbound is from Terraria and that sold about 1.6 million so I doubt starbound will be any bigger than that or even close to it.

Seeing as Minecraft has sold nearly 10,000,000 copies, and Terraria... a ton, I could see this reaching 10,000,000

The word 'esspecially' does not exist.

Terraria has sold two million copies. Source.

Doubt Starbound will be bigger? Really? Compare these two games. Starbound is an advancement in the right direction for sandbox games which its random generation, as well as its looks. It looks better, and if Terraria with its simple (not bad, mind you) graphics attracted at least two million customers, you're going to see a lot more for Starbound. Besides, look at Halo 1 and Halo 2's sales. While Terraria and Starbound aren't exactly related, you could consider Terraria the "prequel" to Starbound's success.*

Minecraft, despite being a 3d sandbox game, is very limited. Don't deny it... Starbound will be very popular if done correctly.

    * Note: I do not think Terraria is a prequel. I was just making a point.

I have no idea what the sale numbers may be. However, I do expect it to be more profitable than a AAA title like Mass Effect 3. Obviously, I don't mean in absolute profit. I mean that the ratio of total revenue over person-hours or development costs will be higher for a small, presumably successful game like this. This is just speculation, though.

Titan Quest was a lot bigger and better than Diablo II, still it sold less than 10% of the copies Diablo II sold.

With this he tried to say even if Starbound is bigger and better than Terraria it does not mean it sells more copies.
(BTW, Titan Quest might be bigger but not better for sure ;))

I think Starbound will selle 1 - 3 million. Maybe a bit more.

Believe me, it's a lot better. The Diablo II skill system is fubar as your only goal for every class is to unlock the über-skill.

And thanks again Leokins for being so kind to non-native speakers. I know we had this argument before but well, I really like you...

I think we can agree that both games have their strengths. The thing is, Blizzard games always sell like crazy so it's hard to compare a Blizzard game with a non-Blizzard one, especially when THQ held back Titan Quest from its full potential. I don't have a link handy, but there should be some information about this floating around on the Grim Dawn forums from some of the team members there who worked at Iron Lore. I think the main reason that Diablo 2 sold better though is replayability. Randomly generated maps, exciting powerful loot (TQ has some cool stuff, but the loot's definitely better in D2,) and new content through updates all keep the game going, and Diablo 2 definitely has the edge there.

From this standpoint, Starbound feels like it's in the position of Diablo 2 (minus the Blizzard effect) compared to Terraria. I will be very surprised if it doesn't sell better.
