I think that's a bit optimistic. Minecraft hasn't hit 10m sales (on PC) yet even with its ridiculous popularity. I'd love to see Starbound get that far but it all depends on how long the game is supported for, the ease of modding, and the all-important popularity factor. While Starbound seems to be in a very good position for all three of these factors, it's impossible to say how popular it will actually be until release.

Terraria recently hit 1,600,000 sales. I easily see Starbound exceeding those numbers.

I'm gonna go with 3 million.

  3. My hopes are high for this game, I know it'll do very well, I just do.

The 38,000+ on these forums, adding on floaters and other fans that watch from afar.
Considering that I crunch the numbers right, I think at first it will nab around 50,000 copies sold, then slow down, the as popularity kicks up with youtube and all, sales will spike again.

Considering the success Terraria received, and the amount of other games popping out in this genre, I think I is quite safe to say that there is quite a huge number of players already into this sort of gameplay. Although it may not obtain the recognition many other AAA games may get from marketing and the sort, Starbound will probably attract plenty of Terraria players. If they do get on Steam, then I have no doubt that they would do quite successfully with probably over a million sales when reviews starts pouring in, especially if they game pulls it off and the reviews are good.

    2. other mods people are able developed their skill by looking into the program and re-texture, add more ideas of awesome for everyone to share into mod download for starbound.

What are you talking about? Those guys have to wait at least half a year to get stuff if they're lucky.

I'm kidding (it is a little true though). But there are other places he could have mentioned but didn't. I think he was just giving an example of how diverse the community is.

oh whoops my bad, I guess I don't have time look up the map very fast. Yea it would come over there too at lest the, there isn't much war is going on for every country and states...I don't think the game will come Africa.

*me look up 10 minutes ago*

ummm is close to Asia and also Zealand so it would count as part Asia or the other for sure, Austen...that is hard to determined cuz they are more out door instead in doors that "I believed in thought"

No, when its released, we will get it.

It isn't a physical copy. You can buy it in steam.

If it is blocked in Australia, I'll pirate it until I CAN buy it.

pirate? Why not buy them form Ebay? lol

I know steam is getting that first hand, but people doesn't know about the steam, I do have it, but my program in the computer is pretty breaks down fast if I download steampunk which I don't understand why it does that so...I going to get lots stuff for computer later on future.

I know, but sometime other people's computer doesn't run that well on video games that doesn't really store up a huge massive game like example of "Maple Story", LoL (League of Legend) , Perfect World. All the game you can free download. Unless they upgrade their computer adding data chips or adding storage unites then yea.

    You aren't making any sense.

Also.. Maplestory and League of Legends are pretty low-spec games. Your system must suck at an incredible level if you can't play them.

Simplified, I think he is talking about storage space on older computers. It shouldn't be a problem, terraria was like 10ish MB of hard drive space, I'd guess Starbound might be about 30ish.

Answering the OP, this game will easily surpass terraria, just by looking at it. I do however doubt that it will surpass Minecraft at this point, only because it has a third dimension. For some reason 2D games seem to turn people off.
