How successful will starbound be?

I'm interested in what you people think about how many copies will sell. I'm thinking about 3-5m. Minecraft got way over 9000 (thousand). And terraria over 1m.

 

1,000,000-3,000,000 Is my choice. Maybe I'm underestimating Starbound's popularity. IDK, time will tell.

 

Obviously over 10M.

I'm thinking that since it's going to appeal to quite a few people that like Terraria and Minecraft, and space and sci-fi, quite a few. I'd guess at least 3 million copies.

 

The starbound community is already huge, and very hyped about the game. Quite a lot of us have told friends about the game, and the player base is really going to skyrocket when a steam sale comes. All i know is that starbound will be worth the development time and wait.

 

It'll start of slow at the start, and eventually gain momentum when youtubers, eg, OMFGcata and Totalbiscuit play it.

 

don't forget all the 12 year old's that can't join the forms.

 

They made a lets play of Terraria, which got hundreds of thousands of views.

3-5m. Terraria has already sold 2m copies, this game is much fleshier and less experimental. So I'm guessing it's going to surpass Terraria sales eventually.

Actually, it is. The game isn't even out yet, and it's not an official sequel to anything, so it's pretty big.

 

What terraria accomplished and then some.

 

First of all, this needs to be moved in the FAQ section.
@In-topic : I think the success will be based upon on peoples reaction (even if SOME people on care about graphics but not the game it's self)
Also,copies depend if people have enough money or want to buy the game,critics come up and say the game is good and starbound will have a a fair success,if not then the fans will probably back it up.

 

Why would that be? It's not like there is any concrete answer to the question. It's more geared towards discussion anyways.

I voted 1-3 million. It sounded like a safe bet.

 

Couldn't he just name it how many copies will starbound sell? instead of making it in to another question?
