How many Items after all?

In a video...

I discussed with a guy who said the game will have about 13000 items included. Yes...thirteen thousand ITEMS INCLUDED!!!
I asked where he saw that and made a research after. I read 1300 items in some threads, but not 13000!
So, I just want to understand about this, How many items are actually in the game, or is planned to be on release.

Sorry if my grammar is not ok. I'm brazilian.

 

I'm certain that 13000 is an overestimate. I mean... I hope it is. If there are that many Beta will never come out.

It is 1300, 13000 items would be ridiculous

 

Plenty, no one counted every one of them, including devteam. But I am quite sure that it's closer to 1300 unless you just count different variations in the same group of items - with different stats etc a'la Borderlands, as they'll be procedurally generated - then it's possibly hundreds of thousands.

I think 'the guy' you mention over-reacted, 'spiced up' the news or just made a typo and one zero too much when sharing the news with you.

 

1300 items, this is enough for the beta, maybe there will be more after that, not maybe, there will be more after that

 

Probably around 1300 if you're just talking about the pre-made stuff. But, don't forget the game is going to have procedurally generated gear as well. That will easily make the number much larger.

And of course I'm not talking about the procedurally generated ones, be cause of course, if they count, it's about possibly millions of items

 

1300+ were the recipes for crafting items... maybe there will be more, time will tell

 

there are 1300 craftable items. Then tons of generated weapons, armors , and who knows what else.

 

1300 sounds way more reasonable. For comparsion PC version of Terraria has about 650 items right now and sure there are niches left in itemization and Starbound might fill many of them, but creating 20 times more (useful) items is extremely unlikely.

Plus if devs were trying to create 13k items, which would postpone beta for weeks or months people would probably lynch them.

 

I agree. 1300+ might be the way to think, 13000 is like a bit far.

 

Also, Molly tweaked last night that she's adding even more. She mentioned cake and hamburgers. So new stuff is being added all the time.

 

Well i would hope over 1000 that way the game would be very creative compared to Terraria.

Not surprised Molly is adding Cake. Although I'm surprised she isn't going to HOG it all! And I'm hoping she TWEETED that, not TWEAKED! I would be disappointed to find out Molly was a Tweaker.
