How long till we get past Progenitor phase and into Optimization phase?

I want to play the game but the CPU usage is off the charts! I know my computer is a year or two old (I know, upgrading necessary), but I just need to wait for the optimization phase to happen, therefore it'll run much smoother. Does anyone know when that'll happen?​

Who says progenitor phase will ever end? Maybe the plan is simply to keep going deeper: each phase is inside another phase. Developmenception?!

That said, I highly doubt a one-year old computer will really need updating unless you have a low-end computer or a netbook ^^

 

My computer is more than 5 years old, is running on a 2.1GHz single core processor, and I have no lag whatsoever. Now, granted I have a Asus 6450 GPU, but that's beside the point.

 

Nothing has been announced, because any time they make a time table and the date passes, people threaten to burn them on the stake.

 

My guess is they want to implement all of the planned systems, first. Once all the systems are in place for them to release continuous content, they'll probably move on to the next phase. But without a roadmap update, we have no way of knowing when that will be. =(

So judging from their non-cosmetic updates release speed it's going to be done around the time Half-life 3 is released, i'm sure.

 

My computer hasn't been slowing down. And I imagine it won't unless tiy and company decide to move Starbound to the Crystal Tools engine for their cutscenes.

Hyperbole aside, they get so much flack for it because it is an issue. In that regard, they have a poor track record.

As for time frame for it. Impossible to know but considering the slow (but steady) advancement over the last few months, one could easily imagine the current phase /potentially/ taking a year or more. More so when you take in the very grand plans they have stated for the game in the AMA. Later phases likely wont take as long.

Three main programers (with various people also pitching in here and there) is a rather small number. Something to keep in mind as well.

 

Estimations should not be taken as fact, but if people want to stress about pointless things they can.
