sorry for being vague ... what i meant was , when i load up the game shouldn't it load up the "saved" world instead of resetting the planet ?

Might want to report it as a bug. Sounds like something happened to your planetary changes file, could be corruption so it just regenerated the planet.

I've had this happen, but didn't notice any reset on the planet. Seems like the game saves pretty regularly.

As far as character/ship saving... I know I've picked up and item, then immediately crashed, but still had that item when I reloaded. So that happens fairly quick/regularly.

hmmm thanks for the info (not bummed that i lost the home i was working on since it's beta n all , just found it odd that it loaded up the planet from scratch)

I think the game will save at certain points, but playing on a multiplayer server I can tell you that the map saves when SOMEONE DISCONNECTS. So it may be the same; in a way. When the map is unloaded, whether you Save and Quit or planet hop, it may save the map then. Unsure about it saving on intervals, but if you're concerned with the planet itself not saving, establish like an hour rule where you'll just Save and Quit and reload, just to make sure it saves. Related note, I know that on a Terraria multiplayer server the map would save every half game day, so...

Also characters are completely a different side. Anything you do that's related to your character and not the planet is saved elsewhere and apparently at the moment something changes. I've picked up an item and instantly got DC'd like 3 sec after, only to come back on with that item in my inventory.

Side Note: On a server if you're lagging apparently things you do that don't require the world being changed, such as bandages, still work. It's when you catch back up is what scares me.

:D have yet to try multiplayer , just getting used to the game offline first .... was building a home out off stolen mercenary (glitch?) furniture , then a blackout happened in our area and thus lost the stolen house hehehe

But you probably kept the things you still had on you.
