How do you name your farm animals?

I name them after demons/lucavi from Final Fantasy

(examples: Hashmal, Abimelech, Velius, etc)

 

Let's just say the words "disturbing" and "wrong" explain the names quite easily.

 

I randomize names until I find one I like, or for some I'll have a name in mind.

 

I usually get 4 cows on every save and name them all Spring, Summer, Autumn and Winter. And I always name the horse Sir Maneard, and the cat is mostly named Sir Pawton and the dog is mostly named Sir Barkalot.
Otherwise I just name all the other farm animals something random, but something similar for the same sort of animal, take for instance my 4 latest void chickens: Vi, Va, Vo and Ve.

 

I hope when you say naming animals after "food-related" things, you didn't mean things like naming a pig "bacon" and a cow "beef", because that's just mean xD

My girlfriends sister named her cow "dairy queen." Just gonna let that settle in.

 

I'm terrible at naming things, so I stick to the good 'ol randomize button when naming livestock. If there were no randomize button and I'd be forced to manually name them, I'd probaly just number them

But I have named my dog and cat after animals I have/have had in real life, especially the cat. I've named a dog Albert, after the dachshund my family had when I was a kid and I almost exclusively call my cats Loui after the kitty in my avatar, my current rl fluffy buddy
The horses I tend to name Happy, which is the name of a childhood friend's horse.

Other than that I usually just name my cats, dogs and horses common pet names like Fido or something boring like that

 

You name them after friend and family and then when they make you made you can just sell the animal off. Feels great!

Based upon other responses in this topic and some similar reddit posts, it's a pretty common theme; I even used to play cards occasionally with someone who did this in real life with the pigs he raised.

 

Hey, I'm vegetarian and even I don't see anything too bad in this. It's got its own sense of humor, after all.

I have a very arbitrary naming system; my ducks are named after roles played by actress Idina Menzel, my goats are named after members of Tscar Nicholas II's family, my pigs are named after WW1 poets and my rabbits are named after things related to King William of Orange. There's "quirky" and then there's "this makes sense to no one but me".

I name all my animals with things to do with my favourite tv programme, Stargate SG-1, e.g.
Cat - Atlantis
Horse - Jackson
Chickens - Daniel, Tau'ri, Tok'ra
Ducks - Skaara, Kowalsky
Rabbits - Fraiser
Cows - Teal'c, Bra'tac
Sheep - Sha're, Broca
Pigs - Hammond, Apophis
Goats - Amonet, Cassandra

Oh, and, if you couldn't already tell, I'm kind of a fangirl...

Loved the show. They actually filmed a number of episodes behind where I work. I got to go on set and watch them filming. One of the crew took my picture with a friend beside the Stargate itself (it's plastic... I know this because I shamelessly fondled the thing! haha)! Watched them film a small scene with Teal'C that was in Season 6. Was funny when I saw it on TV after they added the sound effects and music.

 

You're so lucky you got to go on the set! I would love to do that!

I'm not too far in to my first game, but everything's being named after things from my childhood in the 80s.
My four chickens are: Egon, Winston, Ray, and Peter.
My two cows are: Leonardo and Donatello... Guess what the next two will be!

 

I have some strange animal names for sure. Thumbs up for guessing where I got them some of them.
Cat: Zazzles
Chickens: Cluckin Bell(sold last year), Carl, Trevor, Frannie and Mishell
Ducks: Huey, Daisy and Lewie
Rabbits: Roger and Jessie
Cow: Moolissa
Sheep: BaaPeep
Goats: NaaNay and Billie
Pigs: Pinky, Perky and Jamie

The cow, sheep and goats were just silly names I came up with. The others actually were name for something or things, can anyone guess, especially the chickens.
