How Do You Guys Like These Daily Updates!?

I actually don't mind the multiple updates... though even a weekly update would be fine with me. Some would say that having one every day from the 10th to the 13th would be a bit much, but any news is better than no news.

 

Wrong at the very premises. Chucklefish is just a distributor in case of Risk of Rain which has it's own devteam. Same with other games on this forum. Work on Stardew Valley, Risk of Rain, Wanderlust or Treasure Adventure World in no way affects (or at least, should affect) progress on Stardew Valley as those games are made by different groups of people.

Wave of updates may be simply a nice idea of familiarizing playerbase with features they will see soon in beta or raise interest in the game in case of infrequent visitors. Possibly part of the crew has now also more time, waiting for other department to finish their job on whatever they've made and this time is used to show us what is already done and to what extend.

Threads were already made, speculations done - reason isn't as important as the fact that we have updates to enjoy.

 

What little we all know. Because everything we see online is true. I mean i read it? it must be true? because nobody lies. no sir! Because this game was suppost to be released in 2012, Thats not a lie.. oh yes sir indeed. Lets recap what we've learned in the past and use this logic.

 

I don't think it is a sign of anything. I think the Dev team saw that a lot of people on the forums were getting restless/dissatisfied and wanted to give them more. I am surprised they have been every day, though, I would expect at most once or twice a week. I hope they can keep it up...I also hope the forums don't nerd-rage when he misses a day.

 

That is a way to alleviate the pressure the community is putting on them. However it will likely backfire like the roadmap.

 

He's showing off a lot of the work done that will be updated into the roadmap.
So when the roadmap is updated, it'll be nothing new.
Just to disappoint everyone.

Ha kidding, I don't know really.
Could be true though, in which case. I personally wouldn't care.. I mean come on.. small daily updates.
Whats not to love, even if the roadmap shows nothing new.

 

A lot of the community were complaining about the lack of updates, so I guess the frequent updates are to appease them.

 

I've been surprised by it as well!
I have two guesses:
1. Tiy decided to spend more time on giving people cool info because they asked for it.
2. They are nearing beta and a part of the staff has nothing important to do right now as a result.
If you look at the roadmap it looks like most (but not all) of the graphical things are already done, but lots of code still needs to be written.
This would free a part of the team to do other things, such as work on a trailer and make blog posts.

 

It was stated on Twitter that the updates would be "frequent", but not necessarily every day.

 

Logic would confirm my assumption. Unless you're willing to seriously claim that shady dealings and different devteams trying to dabble with each other's work and not stoping despite it affecting negatively development are more probable than people wanting to maximize the profit and do what they set out to do. Changes in schedules for game release are constant in this industry nearly since it's conception and hardly a reason for conspiracy theory.

 

So much this. Its already freaking people out with Tiys lil roll on, closer. As it goes on its just going to cause more and more to get impatient rather then be grateful we are getting to see the game being put together piece by piece unlike almost any other development studio would do.

Which is sad because it is awesome even as snippits, and hope it continue right on until full release.

 

I have a feeling that it's their way to avoid negativity to take it's place and infest their game.

As humans, we love to complain. People were complaining about the 1 update every now and then. Now we have a daily update and you still have people trying to find dirt on it.

 

omg ror has nothing to do with starbound/devs.... many people cried because there werent enough news...... thats the reason...... they had to decide go on the same way or feed the crying fans

 

they are probs building up the hype for the beta! yay!

 

Regardless of why, it's fun to get little daily updates on the important systems like crafting and monster generation, especially if these things would be time intensive and fiddly to show off in a video.

 

Last time i remember people keep asking for updates and what's happenign to the game... now there's giving you thier updates and you guys asking why!?

 

1. Just because people are asking why doesn't mean they aren't grateful

2. The people asking why probably aren't the same people who were asking for more frequent updates

Basically because people where crying about "Starbound dosen't exist!1111!!!, the devs aren't working on Starbound anymore" .ect

 

They are probably updating more frequently because they realize that their game is actually inspiring some of us to go back to college to learn this industry.. I know i'm inspired. ​
