How Do You Guys Like These Daily Updates!?

Piecemeal information instead of having an overwhelming cascade of data to wade through can help those of us that are interested, interpret the progress of the game better as we would retain more information rather than risk losing some.

 

Luckily I hate bacon so this was an easy poll for me.

The updates are great, its exactly what I wanted from the devs, just a quick update of progress every now and then. That they're daily is an added bonus.

 

I've been waiting for this for a long time. (along with many others, I may add). I love the updates. I was so excited when pre-orders came out I checked the forums 500,213 times a day. I have slowly lost interest until lately when the daily updates started coming out. I'm not saying they have to have an update every day, but having something new to read about more than once every 3 to 4 weeks is friggin' awesome!!!

 

What's not to like?

 

If we can keep having them at least twice a week, I will be happy beyond.... well, anything, frankly.

 

Of course I also do like them ! I'm actually looking forward to seeing how frequent they will become. I feel that doing them everyday could become tedious for Tiy... I will undouptably be disapointed the day they will stop though

Any little tidbit that shows us they're making progress is a very good thing, as is seeing little screenshots and videos here and there. It keeps us interested, and it gives the devs feedback on how we feel towards the features and things they're providing.

So far, I _LOVE_ the things I'm seeing. Way back in the day, I used to play a game called Starflight. Awesome fun game from the early days. I'm getting the same feeling from Starbound that I got from it... and it's not even out yet!

Has completely renewed my excitement for this game.

 

It's kind of weird. It's pretty much exactly what I talked about when talking about how they communicate... Almost like they listened to me, although that's highly unlikely.

 

These updates excite me almost as much as children playing card games.

I mean playing children's card games.

 

IF i don't like it let the Starbound ship's strike me down! hmm still not stirken so i love em! Hehe I hope more come soon ^.^

 

I love all the information. I love that the dev team is so dev-oted to their fans and I think it's going to keep me coming back every single day.
At the same time I feel like it's a sarcastic info dump meant to make those people who were belligerently vocal about update's shut their cake holes.
That might be my inherent cynicism projecting onto other people's issues though.

At first I thought this would make the wait easier, I've realized I was very very wrong. After an initial release, the anticipation only builds faster. Some part of me wants ot believe something's around the corner, another thinks that this is just a short burst of information to sate the crowds. And only time will tell.

 

Daily updates are a super, super good thing.

I'd even like it if they were as vague as "we discussed some plans to actually do stuff today", because it is still tangible evidence that something is actively going on.

And that is uplifting.

I like being able to see new developments and such without having to dig through 5+ threads of varying quality and ambiguous titles. On the other hand, I worry about it's possible effect on the community at large. The Hype Beast knows no satisfaction, only a deepening hunger. Right now they are trying to placate it with, well, daily updates. This creates a daily expectation that, as soon as it is missed, the Hype Beast will flip it's shit. This is evident by plenty of things, most recently with the Roadmap release, in which people were asking for updates less than a week after it was revealed.

Chucklefish, if any of you read this, you should stick to a consistent release of information that you know you can complete and keep up with. YOU set the expectations. A daily update is the promise of a consistent and worthwhile flow of information that will not miss. Not only that these will happen but the information provided will start drawing a picture for the release. I'd just rather not see this community management strategy backfire on you guys in the future. You've already released 2 different types of updates and this makes a third. Stick with one and make that worthwhile. Be it the monthly newsletter, these daily updates, or Roadmap updates with info release on what was changed.
