How do I rename the pets I capture in capture pods?

Is there any way to do this in the current Starbound?

 

Not at the moment. We actually wanted the same thing as you but for ship crew members names. Or perhaps a name name under the ship crew log, called a nickname. But neither have been implemented by mod or vanilla yet, sorry.

 

It kind of saddens me this hasn't been added yet. It's the small stuff like this that really adds life to a game.
