Hid in one of those mini-caves and shot with the bow.
when the penguins swarm i run to the next cave.

and i shoot the offscreen penguins that have the rocket lanuchers.

I summoned it close to the first stationary house I had built. Was a lot of fun fighting a battle against militant penguins from space using the structures for cover and my bow for shooting at their ship or my spear to stab the infantry they teleported to the surface.

After that lengthy battle my house was pretty damaged, but I moved on to another world anyway.

First time back in the armor pen days, but after it gained the brick breaking ability, I happened to find an airship on a threat. . . 5 or 6 world, I forget. Bought a pistol capable of hitting it for about 4 damage (machine pistol, knowing what I know now I would have brought revolvers instead but it was my first excursion into guns and I didn't realize how fast it'd drain my energy). I then went back to a threat 1 planet and proceeded to lure it across the entire face of the planet, shooting it, until I found an apex facility. It takes it about 3-4 good hits (or did then) to break through the metal plating, so I was able to use that for cover for awhile. Killed it just as it tore off the last vestiges of the ceiling.

Every time after that? Man, I don't even bother with the iron bow. Just plunk plunk hunting bow. It's fine. Just use some bandages when it smashes you if you don't got energy dash to dodge it.

I just wish there were a better way of dealing with flying bosses, especially the dragon. It's incredibly hard to trade hits with him in melee because with those wings you can't tell when you're about to collide with his hitbox, and if you don't have a ranged weapon besides the bow, it's straight up tedious to plink him to death while dodging fire. My best strategy for that boss was that I accidentally found a hole in the ground that I dug out a little and cheesed him to death.

It still took about 15 or so full energy bars with third tier racial armor and a steel bow, so yeah, tedium. The penguin boss was easier because I could actually afford to trade hits when I could get in melee range. It's just sad that the most efficient and safe way outside of having lucked into good techs early is to cheese the boss with the environment and a tedious process of bow-plinking.

His AI is broken and he's literally incapable of aiming his fire at you.

Don't dodge it. Just stand under him. Marvel at how awful he is.

It's still tedious as hell, though.

You can use a shield. Blocking a collision gives you time for a counterattack or two. His flames can't stick to platforms, just in case he manages to knock you around.

after a little practice, I beat the first boss using only a broken riot sword and a wooden bow and no tech... and about 5 nanowraps OFF TO PRACTICE!

    It was super effective.

I thought nanowraps were tier 3?

I kept all my armor that I made through my character and just used it in the fight, not a new character
and its technically after killing the t2 boss but not the starmap upgrade for t3
just tried with no healing, the boss was at half hp when I died
I WILL NOT GIVE UP EVAHHHH!
I would love to see hero or yrimir try this!

First time I fought it was a bit too easy with the sword I had. >< Never knew penguins were being dropped...

Basically all I did was summon it in small valley between 2 large hills/mountains. Mainly used the left slope to double jump and hit the saucer, then lure it lower; rinse repeat.

I had my full race gear, but it was the sword that killed him quick. Tier 2 uncommonbroadsword that carried over from the world/ship wipe. Found that in one of those USCM?! places off one the people I killed.

I can say it probably would have taken longer to kill with a standard or starter weapon, but sure I could do it again as it is now. The reason I never saw the fledglings, was due to the fact they were landing in one of the cave holes below me, and couldn't get up from there. That and I was pretty much hit and lure tactic as mentioned above; more focused on it then anything else....

im beginning to think the challenge of killing that ufo with only a wooden bow and broken sword is beyond me
its honestly better to just have iron armor and iron bow to do it

Err ran side to side shooting it and killing adds when needed. I don't see the need to cheese it, bosses are too easy in my opinion if you have the appropriate gear.

I had tier 10 weapons and armor when I faced it so I was actually the boss, not the ufo.

I don't have the reaction speed to avoid the UFO attacks, so I substitute that with preparedness - just build a little fortress with plenty of layers of material between you and it, but with lots of holes to shoot out of.

    Normo Scruffy Nerf-Herder

I think I just used an iron hunting bow to kill it. That and a good supply of bandages. To be honest, it wasn't that hard.

I found a town and ran from house to house to keep him away, but I would love to see the UFO be able to crush blocks simply by touching them, it got stuck and I just melee'd him into submission. The UFO seems to glitch out everytime I battle him =( If he runs into a wall while moving sideways he often just stops moving animations and all and lets you bash him with anything you have lol

  20. Archer

    Archer Spaceman Spiff

I just found a nice melee weapon, got iron armor, made some bandages, and kept humping and swaying at it till it died, occasionally making a dirt tower to reach its height.

    Traps are boring imo :\
