How did you find out about Starbound?

Out of curiosity I looked through the Terraria tag on tumblr and someone had posted the picture of the Floran create a character screen with a link to Starbound. I could see pixelated gaming, space, character customization, and plant people all in one image, so of course I clicked it.

 

i found out through the death of terraria.
had to dig in their forums to find any answers.

 

Lmao I mean Star Bound

 

Where'd you hear about it from? What caught your attention about it?

Me? I was browsing Giantbomb's list of games with randomly-generated levels, looking for something that might be interesting. (I am a total sucker for randomly-generated levels.) While scrolling through the list, I saw a title I didn't recognize from the last time I did this: Starbound. Being intrigued by the sci-fi title (Seems most rand-gen games are fantasy titles), I clicked on it. I got a general synopsis and thought "Hey, this looks pretty damn cool." I looked it up and found this site. Five or so months later, here I am.

 

I got a little bored of minecraft after there was no update for a few months and i had already had the game for a year or two, so i went onto terraria with a friend and after a couple of weeks we complete all the hardmode bosses, got epic gear and done pvp on servers. So without any game to play i went searching and i found this, hey it looks similar to terraria so i read on found out about all the content and eventually the forum and so here i am

 

I can't really remember exactly what happened, however, I know it was because of terraria

 

Played Terraria, and followed their forums pretty closely. When I heard another game from the same creators was in development I was all over it!!! I'm hooked on Starbound and I haven't even touched it yet =((((((((((((

 

I've been searching for zombie survival games and found terraria. Then i played terraria for some time single and multiplayer and got bored at some point.
Beacuse i found terraria interesting, i googled ,,games like terraria'' and found Starbound in may or june.

 

I played the heck out of Terraria back when it was updating and was absolutely heartbroken when the game 'ended' development. Tiy posted an announcement about his game and I have been lurking and watching Starbound ever since. I have some high hopes for Starbound, and I do actually consider it a spiritual successor to Terraria even if they are both totally different games.

So yeah, Terraria pretty much brought me here.

And that's how oldfags joined the starbound forums.

 

I don't really remember, it was linked to terraria though.

Seriously, the link from the "we're stopping development sryz" Terraria forum thread. It said that Tiy was working on it who was from the Terraria team, so I came.

 

Good ole' Endling from DeviantArt. I found out most of the information on Terraria when it was still in development through him and the same followed for Starbound when he posted his entry for the Monster Contest awhile back.

This thread sounds familiar....but Terraria. I followed news about the game for months then joined the forum in November.

I heard about it on a Steam article in the Terraria news.

 

Well, I feel dumb now. It didn't show up in the similar threads box. My bad.

 

Just like Dragonith: Endling posted a journal entry in deviantArt speaking of the games he was hoping to play this year, Starbound among them. However, at first I didn't care too much for this game, it was only about a month ago that I decided to join the forums (and I don't remember why). Now SB looks like it'll be one hell of a game, and the community is awesome, so how could I not stay?

 

Someone mentioned it on the MSPA forums and I looked it up. I guess I would have found out anyway, eventually, since I was following Terraria's devs and Endling.
