How deep have you spiraled into obsession with Starbound?

I circle the drain when it comes to obsessing over Starbound. I split my time with other good games. Space Engineers is my current obsession but I'm swinging back to full time apes and flowers and birds (oh my!)

Last time I piled a bunch mods to make me "Samus Aran: the Better Adventures" but this time I want to stick to nightlies

 

I'm not fully into obsession when it comes to Starbound, just paying attention to what's going on.

Reading the Starbound forums does fuel my true obsession, though: getting unnecessarily irate when people say "entitled" when they mean "self-entitled".

 

As much as i love Starbound, you guys have no idea about falling down an obsessive spiral until you've played Dwarf Fortress

I've gone so far, I made fan art. And I probably spent more time on the art than I have on the game.

 

I have put 100 hours into the game in the past 2 weeks, i think i really need help.

 

Maybe someone will start a Starbounders Anonymous thread.

 

That's like... 7 hours a day! I imagine schools closed. You should get outside and get some fresh air, kid!

 

I'm trying to wait until 1.0 to play anymore. I feel like looking at new content piecemeal is kind of spoiling the final experience for me.

Yeah. Hopefully not to maybe people ruin the game for themselves with the nightlies. I remember ruining Minecraft 1.0 by playing the beta 1.9 pre-releases and the 1.0 Release Canadates, when the game finally dropped I was kinda disappointed it seemed like nothing new was added then I realized a lot of stuff was added since 1.8.1 I have just already played with it all.

 

Same happened to me... Got the game in alpha.. played it like crazy up until official release day.. Well, a few days prior technically.. Anyways, I simply dropped the game and hadn't touched it until last month (or was it the month before?) and played about a week or 2 and noticed it was more or less the same as when I left it..

What does it have to do with SB? Simple. I don't want to get burned out on it before the next update, so I have been waiting before I relaunch the game again.. In the meantime, I been lurking the forums and checking the news posts.. I hadn't played SB since early Feb..

 

Most MC's changes recently seem to have been aimed at mapmakers with a few more things (Underwater content and rabbits for example).

But yeah, hopefully too many people don't get burned out on the nighties and suffer disappointment when for the big update it feels like either 1 or 2 new things or just a bunch of polish since they had been playing all the new things as they came.

 

Was pretty obsessed with it before but I had some burnout, partially due to lack of easily accessed multiplayer and then the unending hacking and exploits that came when I did find it, just stopped being worth my time, trying to come back to it though, see what there is to see now.

 

I distinctly remember going into a server on the starter planet and teleporting onto a precipice that I could barely get off of without falling to my death. >_>

 

I'm currently at the "check back every few weeks to see if this god-forsaken game will be finished someday" stage.

As it stands, I'm looking forward to the foreseeable 2025 release date.

 

On the bright side if it releases any time before that it will be out early then you expected. ^_^
