How are you preparing for the update?

Probably wait a bit for the worst bugs to be patched. Though probably no longer than a week.

 

Will you need to start a new game after the update? I'm in year 4 and really don't want to give up all my progress

 

You will only need to if you want one of the new farm layouts, but if you're fine with the old layout then no, you don't need to restart

 

Haha! Shane will have so many chicken ranches he won't know what to do with himself.

 

You know, it would be nice if marriage causes Shane to quit working at Jojo. After all, he'd be needed on the farm. I'd like to see all the marriables actually doing work outside. And it would be nice if you could assign tasks, such as petting and feeding the animals, or watering the crops. It makes no sense for a marriable to gleefully tell you they watered the crops if you have sprinklers in place, as happens now.

 

Or when Harvey proudly told me he'd fed and watered all the animals. I had... none. Harvey, what in the heck were you feeding hay into all morning?

 

How do you water animals?

 

With a garden hose and courage.

I agree. While I haven't pursued a marriage option, yet. Based on what I have read from other players, it would be nice for the spouses to be out and about more. I'm hoping that, if you do not romance Shane and repair the Community Center, you can hire him to help you on the farm.

 

From what I gather from CA's tweets and blogs, there'll be no need to reinstall unless you want to - the patch will apply seamlessly. Only thing you'll need to do is check your mods to make sure none need to be updated (I only have two mods -- one for relationships that slows decay, and a fishing mod because I have some mild arthritis in my hands that makes it hard to control the green bar). The main reason to start a new save is for the new maps, but also if you're really far along in relationships with the villagers you'll want to have a chance to see any new cut scenes especially with Emily and Shane.

 

I want Lewis to go ahead and marry Marnie, and let Shane take over running the ranch if you don't marry him. But that's just me.
