How are you preparing for the update?

So we know there's going to be void mayo, wheat into flour, honey into mead....What else do we know? Are you stockpiling these things? I'm going to keep playing my usual game and also start a new one when the update comes out. Any word on a more specific date?

 

I plan on updating my steam guide and start adding video to it! [emoji23] it's nothing amazing, just a hobby i do when I'm hitting a slow part of the game. Really hoping to give it a revamp

 

With a cache of canned foods, bottled water, and sandbags. Also, I've boarded up the lower windows of my home and set up a perimeter.

 

Since I plan to primarily restart a new save once the game rolls about, I haven't been doing much out of what I ordinarily do on my primary save which was keeping all the gold star items while still trying to make all the money (or in the event there is no gold star variant like maple syrup and duck mayo, whatever is available) I always liked the idea of having a farm being rich and prosperous while I myself kept the cream of the crop for my own hoarding devices.

Overall my main goal was likely to just keep saving as I have been. Then when the new update comes out I'd start up a new save so I can run through getting the village up to their respective max hearts to see if there are new cut-scenes. Odds are afterwards I'll pop over to my original save since it will have all the money, but then again who knows...I may become to enamoured with the new save that may be a long time till that happens. All in all I've been trying to not plan too much in advance.

That said, I dont think there's been any news since the initial announcements.

 

[emoji848] Now I feel awkward. Ok, game wise [emoji23] I'm probably going to start a new game. Really excited to try the new maps.

 

Beer and Hot Pockets?

 

Technically... I am not preparing for it. I am just playing occasionally, as I have been. When the update hits, I will start a new character to try out a few of the new layouts; however I will probably still play my first one. I Finally got married today. Sooo... I guess I would have to make a new save if I want to go after one of the 2 new ones or someone else.

Regardless I'll keep playing.

 

Mostly just brainstorming ideas for now. I had planned to continue the save I'm currently playing on and just integrate the new stuff but once I learned we were getting multiple farm maps, all that went right out the window. lol So now I'm thinking of how I'll design my farmer for each map, and who I'll pair them up with, and what the primary focus for the farm will be.

Should probably go pick out a new notebook too, I'm gonna need it. >u<

 

I just keep playing as I usually have, don't really see the need to prepare for the update. I'll just start on a new save when the update's released and roll from there.

 

I always felt like starting a new save was the best way to see how an updates new features affect the progression, but that is just my opinion. I do have quite a few void eggs, since they can't be turned into mayonnaise and aren't really worth selling, but can still be used for cooking as a normal egg. The same goes for the other two but I stockpile just about everything just to make clearing my inventory easier

 

I'm trying to finish up the 10million gold earned and cook every recipe achievement in my current save -- with the update I plan to start a new save but play the old one occasionally just to see if I can actually finish the museum collection.

 

Just like Minimanta, I dont really think of preparations for updates or big additions in Stardew Valley, ill just let it be, and plan on the go! and probably reach the farm layout and instantly think "oh, did I take the wrong turn somewhere?" and forget its my own place...

 

I'm just planning to finish up my current games, which in one file is completing the Community Center and the others just getting married, and after the update starting new files. Whether or not I go back to the old files I can't say though.

 

By not playing. I've got plenty of other activities to consume my time. When 1.1 arrives, I'll start a new farm, either a Hilltop or Forest. Perhaps both.

 

By checking out all the goodies in the new update, then starting a Hilltop Farm and gunning for Emily's affections.

 

Resupplying my "game release" goodies of coffee, tea, meal planning (pre-cooked myself so I can pop things in the oven) so I don't have to do any adulting for a day or two. Oh, and poptarts.

Oh, wait, you meant in game, my bad! lol. I'm taking a wee bit of a mini break from the game until 1.1. My current save, Spring Year 2, feels like the perfect place to pick back up once the update is released. I've hoarding quite a few things of honey, beets, and wheat for the new stuff as well.

Plus, attempting to plan what I want to do on a new save. Because I really, really want to give the new layouts (Hilltop specifically) a try and have a chicken farm with Shane.

 

Shane's gonna have so many chicken ranches. lol That's what I'm gonna do on my Shane save as well.

 

I'm going to uninstall and reinstall via Steam because I have a veritable amount of probably outdated mods that I don't want to manually deal with.

Also with the advent of new starter farms, I have to start over anyway.

IRL-wise, I'm doing ahead work and study for my college classes so I can sneak in some game time maybe because I'm certain I can't play the new patch (or any game really) properly until either Thanksgiving break or until Christmas when the semester and finals are over

 

I haven't played long enough to go through an update, what all happens when one comes out? I'm assuming we basically just reinstall the game, so will all our files then be replaced with fresh ones? I'm thinking I'm going to have to spend a day just going back in and reapplying all my texture mods if that's the case. Hopefully they'll all still work, or at least most of them. I rather like the look of things the way I have it now. >u>

 

I plan to make a few files to explore the new maps, but otherwise I'm staying on my main file. So I'm preparing by befriending everyone and getting the 8 heart events for the marriage candidates out of the way. Gotta get that character development before I'm married to the chicken man.
