Id like for the game to have all of its primary gameplay features present, after that I dont mind if there are major bugs or missing items, that can all come later on, and bugs are to be expected.

Cube World's development started sometime before June of 2011 (likely quite a bit earlier as he had screenshots like this http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-bURqXLTBfeA/TfE0t9KDJwI/AAAAAAAAAFY/XDV7OF8d-N4/s1600/08.jpg to show), and if I remember correctly Starbound's development started around summer 2011 as well. It's not fair to say that Starbound has "dropped the ball". There's no possible way for you to judge how long it would take to program the systems Starbound has in place (practically randomly generated everything, for one) unless you are an experienced programmer yourself. Not to knock Cube World, because I'm really excited for it, but to say that it's bigger than Starbound is kinda just wrong. If Starbound has anything going for it, it's the sheer amount of exploration and content to be had. The only thing that the devs may have messed up on is announcing Starbound so early. However, the rest of it is on you. As a fan: don't hype yourself up, don't burn yourself out, and if you have any respect for the developers, don't complain to them because they're doing their job.

To be honest, I'm just tired of the developers taking shit for the fact that they're taking their time to get it just right. Maybe that's my mentality as someone who also creates things as a profession, but it's just the reality of the situation.

So long as vital features aren't missing I'll be happy to play the beta. I don't want to play with a bulk of the inventory system missing or combat mechanics unfinished, but once all those main components are done I wouldn't mind playing.

As much as I absolutely want this game like so-bad-you-guys-you-don't-even-know, part of me DOES feel like I'd rather not play it during Beta and wait until it's finished. It'd be kinda like having cake before dinner, if you get what I mean. I want to have the full experience.

That said, if you put cake in front of me I AM going to eat it... 8|

I'm just as tired of people White Knighting the forums, too. "Oh, you're such a bad person because you're so negative. Be Positive like me or get out!" may as well say to a person suffering crippling depression "Don't worry, just think positive things and you'll feel better!" or my personal favorite "There's other people in the world suffering worse than you. Think about them".

I'm not trying to justify negative attitudes on the forums. I think people who are just plain destructive are bad, yes, but if people are bringing criticism and have a good point to make, chastising them because they are "Negative vibes, man" is no different than the Westboro Church IMO.

Just because you don't agree with someone doesn't mean you have the right to tell them to stop being themselves. People adjust to passions differently and video games are no exceptions. A forum is a place for discussion and opinions and yes, that means opinions you may disagree with.

Hopefully when people find bugs they will report them, not just ignore them.

How do you provide constructive criticism on a game's release date? The developers know infinitely more than all of us about what needs to be done before they're ready to release.

I just wish they can tell us more in detail what is done. I know the roadmap is there and everything, but it does not always accurately tell us what needs to be done. I'd be happy for a daily / weekly roadmap update as well. (I assume they are monthly atm) Also it'd be good to release the beta before terraria's new update.

"I'm ready to cope with minor bugs and missing content."

I'd be happy to see a Beta where we all help iron out the minor bugs (e.g. "My hands dissapear when I go underwater holding a spear") and I can understand that there will be missing content. I don't think a Beta should get released where there are "Major Bugs" (e.g. "I can't see any of the foreground blocks and the day/night cycle takes 15 seconds to complete... and what is that constant screaming noise?!") as that is more pre-Alpha/Alpha/closed Beta area.

I also don't think Beta should be "I'm ready to cope with only planned for beta features beeing present." as the object of a beta is to test for bugs/glitches. This statement is better suited to a demonstration (demo). I can understand if features aren't present because they've not been implemented yet. But I don't think a sort of "We've given you two planets to explore and five weapons to try!" constitutes a beta.

They're not saying that in reference to the release date. They meant he devs doing things like constantly adding more and more things to the game which delays it further and further. A thing that is a clear double edged sword and is going to start to upset people; especially in an age where PC games can be so easily patched and updated long after their release. You're bound to get people that will start to get put off by that if it keeps happening enough. Starbounds devs seem to have this need to add any kind of idea they think of and then try to perfect it to death before they'll let anyone put their hands on it.

Again, it's a double edged sword. I personally normally don't mind games being delayed. Zelda games have often been delayed and they always come out wonderful. Zelda games however were also being released before patching in content was a thing (especially for Nintendo). Starbounds devs just... don't seem to know when to stop with that whole adding in new features thing before they release the game. Their is a point when it can go over the edge.
