At this point its hard to know exactly what the devs are going for, they maybe even given us all these dreams so they can find their path of the game idea thro us. But something I would like to see, something I know works is reactions to your actions from AI. Since all world will be randomized, lets play around with the idea how to have a cool "cause & effect" way of interacting with the AI. SO my suggestion "If you were their first offworld encounter": How would the strongest predator in a world react to you? Probably see you as a threat and try to kill you, will it rather die then become your slave? What will it do if a pack of weaker ones are about to kill it and you fend them off? How would a weak predator/non-predator react to you when you give it something it likes like food or shelter from larger predators (by digging a 1x8 hole that only the smaller creature could fit in)? Probably follow you around as an pet, not by force but by will making you feel love and care for this creature (like the braindead bunny's of terraria but without the braindamage). How would an intelligent being react to you naming things in their world? Probably hostile and in fear of you enslaving them forcing them to attack you, forcing you to become more humble in your next encounter if you wish to befriend them by showing them how to break down materials to make something else or houses etc. How would PRIMATIVE intelligent beings react if you started pushing buttons on your "datapad" and a rock fell from the sky and blew away a chunk of the ground near you (orbital strike)? Probably as a god or semi god. Imagine doing it in the penguin world, where maybe the penguins see their king (the one with the crown) as a fake and beat him to death because you just showed them who the real god is, and what happends if you give the king some kind of power, a laser gun? Maybe you will be god and he a semi god. Some things have a % of chance to happend, some don't. Definitions of the different sort of aliens Yes I have read Speaker of the Dead : I would assume the devs will use a "datapad/index" that stores information about diffrent species. So by dividing them into definitions that will make you understand what they were. Depending on how they react to YOU (since you will be the focus of the game). Some of these terms may only be used by NPC's maybe to define creatures, maybe one of your crew says "We have found outlanders in this world, no confirmation yet if they are ramen or varelse". First maybe a "threat" level, how they acted when they saw you. Threat - Neutral - Friendly - Slave - See's you as god. Stranger - Same race as you but from another world/culture. Outlander - are strangers of your race and your world. Ramen - Capable of communication and peaceful coexistance with you (this is after you decide they are not Varelse). Varelse - are strangers from another race/world who are not able to communicate with us. They are true aliens, completely incapable of common ground with humanity. They live, but we cannot guess what purposes or causes makes them act. They might be intelligent, they might be self-aware, but we cannot know it.
Pretty interesting, would be complicated to put in the code though. Really wanna see this! Supporting!
Yeah but I think it would pay off Too bad my thread name is too boring for people to check this thread maybe Ill name it "Hot chick plays StarBound".
Yeah, I loved the idea in Spore but did not like the game as much . Ofcource maybe the devs wont be able to do what I wrote, but atleast to some degree, or hopefully they will see the potential of it
This seems like a pretty solid idea, it'd present alot more life to the game. starbound looks like its going to have alot of things in it, the question is to what depth. how specific, and open can they make it. hopefully they will see the potential in this...
