Houses should retain heat

What i mean by that is, if i have a furnace or other item produces heat while in an enclosed room, should build up heat inside that area, and keep it warm and safe. Major gripe i have with the heat system right now is that in order to stay warm i had to put my CAMP fire next to my bed! which is all kinds of not safe. I think needs to be some initial way for homes to stay warm, i thought furnace would work but barely keeps area around it warm... seriously i get what you are going for but when i go to bed at night i think, i should be safe from exposure when i'm inside a home! ya know?

A quick fix for that'd probably be setting torches to fully illuminate every 10 cubes of your house, or making a winter suit. (which is a solve-all-cold suit). :p

    ..But
I do remember hearing something about an oxygen system being in the works. While still in development, it shouldn't be hard to add a heat retention system along with oxygen. Don't get too excited right off the bat though, the thought of having planets in general have different atmospheric gas compositions has probably crossed the Devs' heads a couple times. That is, if they're working on that.

I agree houses should retain heat. However, I think the current heat/cold system needs a lot of work anyway. It's basically impossible to ever freeze to death, as long as you have the common sense to keep a campfire in your pocket. Kind of makes the entire mechanic obsolete, which is a shame because it could be very exciting if they made it more impactful.

I've encountered situations where I nearly freeze. So I disagree with the above. I think they've designed the system more as a nuisance than an important vital though, somewhat similar to the hunger system, so I agree it needs work. I also agree that housing should have such a way to retain heat. Can't just be something as simple as walls trapping heat though.

Absolutely. There was this other guy entertaining the idea to have Coal/Wood fueled *heaters* connected to ventilation shafts and filters to keep carbon monoxide flowing into your house causing damage. Actually a poll on that same persons idea asking people if they'd like it. Good idea I think.

It'd lay the foundation of climate-control for crops too. I mean like on planets that wouldn't be suitable for natural growth of certain crop types.

    I
A little too complex for my taste. Maybe minus the carbon monoxide part.
