I don't know if this is already planned but you, the devs, talked about colonizing planets but I think it would add so much more depth if there was an option to have other sentient creatures that are either peaceful and stay on their planet or are of the conquest variety and choose to expand their empire. It would be pretty emergent and awesome to happen upon an advanced race of sentient beings that have been expanding their empire for while and finding out that they have tens of other planets under their command. Or you can be a peaceful group and then get invaded by a hostile AI race that has been conquering your sector for awhile. It would be better then just throwing random AI dropships at the player that are just randomly spawned in. On the flip side, you could be the one conquering a peaceful species. Seeing as how these species are presumably going to be procedurally generated, it would be awesome to have some be melee based while others are similar to humans and so on.
They did say something about planetary occurences, this might be in the game. Either way I love the idea.
I can kind of see a cortex command style attack happening. I don't know if this is really planned by the devs. From my impression they want the homeplanet to be peaceful, and the other worlds is where you do things.
I dont know how it will be set up but it would cool that if the planet is really large, then you can say couple dozen of your soldiers land on the planet at different points after a orbital scan, because something like this has to be in the game, and you can land down on major cities and what not if the creatures have built their own. You can explore the planet afterwards and see the aftermath of the battles and personally organize a clean up
Or they could work with you, and help drive out the alien influence on a certain planet. That would certainly make for an interesting quest.
Well considering for a moment the art I have witnessed on Legris' livestream, the devs have some very cool things planned. I did hear somewhere that there would be numerous events (I assume terraria-like) And invasion seems completely reasonable. The real question is, should they be able to take over the planet. if they CAN inhabit the planet, will that alter weather or monsters? What do you think TehEpikMonk? and Would managing invaded planets be too much micromanaging?
I like this idea. It would make this game a lot more challenging. I would like to have the opportunity to not only conquer planets, but then need to defend them from others.
If they do add something like this or if it is already in the game, it needs to be dynamic. The species that is trying to conquer has to be realistic generated within at start. It would be fucking cool if you scanned a planet, saw no lifeforms, then dropped there to find that the species that you have been fighting with has decimated all the lifeforms there in another war. So there could be thousands of wars between thousands of differing species
Instead of hostile factions just landing a shuttle and spawning mobs (which is what i interpereted) but they launch different attacks on you. maybe they bomb you, send in enemy troops or send in a boss-type shuttle to attack you. This would add a lot of depth to the game and a sense that you won't know what to expect.
Ok. They might still land on your planet though and do a (pardon my terraria) goblin-army-esque thing. It would be pretty cool if it also depended on the level of homeworld how strong they are. Just a thought though.
I have a feeling that the devs have it planned out that the main character is the "good guy." However, after the game's initial release, it would be cool for there to be a "evil empire" style of gameplay added... that could add some major replay value
Yeah, it would. Speaking of "evil", does anyone know if there will, in fact, be an "evil" enemy, like the Corruption in Terraria?
i would love to see NPC armies trying to take over my base. it would be awesome to the level of depth you can put into this. they could range in level and amounts. it would add some flavor to an already gourmet dish.
It would be nice if they had some strategy, even if they went as far as making it rain acid on my base. That would be fun.
