One thing I cannot stand is having to hop off my horse every single time I want to open and close a gate. Is it the biggest deal? No, but in a game where ever second counts and the way I have my farm set up, hopping off my horse to not only open but close the gate is just a waste of time. Would it be possible to create some sort of barrier that would hold animals in but allow me and my horse to pass though?
I think the NPCBarrier tile property might do it, and a SMAPI mod could let you place them. See GateOpener for a different solution that already exists, though.
Try the "GateOpener" mod found here: https://github.com/mralbobo/stardew-gate-opener/releases It automatically opens gates when you get near them and closes them when you get more than 1 tile away.
