The two are close enough. I still have for the game being out by the end of the year myself. Once you figure out the first tier of something, the rest will follow it because it sets the example. o3o

you would assume that it will be the same code with a few values that have changed to accommodate the different teirs but who knows we will have to wait and see how long it takes them to complete Teir 3 :)

Quite so. Introducing the first tier usually introduces a framework which you can follow when making the next tiers :3

They are adding a distinct feature with each tier, so that's probably what'll take time - I believe they've also said the items and such are more or less complete, it's just knitting them together and putting in the stuff that makes each tier distinct.

The items and the feature are complete just need to be put in.

I feel it will be released September or early October. That is my hopes, you don't have to like them though.

I'll say what I've got to say and nothing more. I'm very excited for the game, still. However, I do think that Chucklefish has taken a gigantic bite and may be finding it difficult to chew. We'll get the game, that's not the problem. WHEN we get the game is what's killing people. I think the community has started to become vexed that they so frequently hear and see things related to the game but cannot touch. Judging by the way development is going according to the updates, the "beta" will be less focused on bugfixes and more focused on testing the pacing of the game. The entire reason I've taken a hiatus on the forums is because of this odd mindset people have lately with indie games that blames any trouble with a game on nonexistent "entitlement" that people who don't blindly lap up a dev's work supposedly have. I'm DAMN entitled, in fact. But in the opposite way that these kids think. I payed good money to a developer who in turn promised a very specific number of features in a game that was under development. I am entitled to receive what I was told I would get, nothing less. You're an idiot if you think that it's some kind of blessing just to get something from a game developer, regardless of the product. That's what killed Minecraft for me, as someone who bought the game in the alpha. I was promised a lot of things, and at first things went well, but then Notch's Friday updates turned into monthly updates, which turned into holiday updates, which then got packaged as "finished" with a tacked on ending and resold because cash kept rolling in. Minecraft still doesn't have half of the features that were promised in the days of the alpha, and to a dishonest salesman, why work up a sweat doing work when you get paid to make promises and paint pretty pictures? Exactly. I believe Starbound will be different, but a big portion of the community are wearing horse blinders and aren't willing to concede on anything less than their opinions, which often times is just straight idiocy. I'm still hype for Starbound, it's just not as open. I'm in a hype hibernation. I'm hypernating (I made that word up and I'll break your legs if you steal it)

(Don't think I'm speaking down on anyone who doesn't need it, I've just needed to vent.)

Good. I don't mean to hype-rbolize, but some people seem to be hype-rsensitive when it comes to anything about beta. You seem to by hype-rcivilized at least.

Neither are many things that we nevertheless laugh at, so as not to be crushed down by them. There are places where joking about serious matters is inappropriate, sure; but attempts to stifle all joking about anything that could possibly make anyone uncomfortable anywhere, ever, are not healthy.

It was a groan-worthy pun, sure, but there's no need to look for things to be offended by.

I think they were being silly about it, honestly... (Like saying "That's how my brother died" when no such thing happened)

The thing that bothers me isn't that people are acting "entitled" so much as they are acting paranoid.

I mean, demanding to receive something you paid for is perfectly reasonable. But demanding to see "proof" that you're going to receive said thing at a later date that's potentially still months off?

I see no reason whatsoever to suspect that CF has been "slacking off" or anything of the sort. In fact, I see the opposite: It feels like they're really close to a beta release right now.
Sounds like Minecraft's developer really screwed things up, and that's bad. But Chucklefish had nothing to do with that and I'm not seeing any indication of them following the same path.

So far I haven't seen any slowdown in Starbound's development, if anything it seems to be speeding up. But that's just my perspective, maybe one of you that's been around for longer can give us a better idea of what has actually been added/changed in the last year.

(Disclaimer: That question list suggested coalescing the daily updates into one larger weekly one. If that happens going forward it is NOT an indication of slowdown.)
I see this argument far too often...

I don't see why anyone should have to concede to an argument composed of baseless speculation and misremembered details. If they had facts to verify and interpret, I could understand that. But far too many people are willing to label anyone who isn't dissatisfied with the way things are as a sheep who isn't actually paying attention. Well, this forum calls them "white knights". Whatever. If both sides are basing their arguments on an opinion, why should only the "defenders" be ridiculed?

Was it something I said?

...Anyway. At this point we're basically just waiting to hear back on that question list thing. All eyes are on the devs at this point. I guess in a way that's a good thing, though I find it kind of sad that this was even necessary.

Edit: Oh, speak of the devil. :)

Why is this thread going to get locked? My original post is only saying that the Aug.30 update gave me hope were going to see a game this year and that I am glad that the tiers are not going to take a month each considering the first one took 2 months. I see no reason why that could close a thread. Beside I am pretty sure this thread is just about done as there is not much more to say that hasn't already been said.

Well I have said it in other threads but needs to be said here... I think the boss was way awesome and creative!! Would you rather have a floating eyeball or skull with hands to battle. Seeing the boss, the tank, and the penguins gave me much more hope for a creative experience than I had before.
