I am pretty sure just the first tier alone will accomplish that for you. ;)

1st tier is just tutorial. Sure I can build basic stuff, but I'm quite sure I move on fast enough.

Still I am sure you have nothing to worry about. :) I have around 69 hours on terraria. That is just one world, compared to starbound billions of planets, and hand full of items compared to starbound.

"Starbound is basically the game that never runs out of content" Not exact quote but I do remember hearing a dev say this.

I hate to be the pessimist (Someone has to be) but don't be hopeful, only when you see the beta email be hopeful. Between now and then, anything could go wrong and take some large amount of time.

I'm still sure that we won't see beta before 2014.

  8. I'm getting more and more sceptical about this year's beta release but I'll wait if I have to...

I will always hope for the impossible. Being a pessimist is the dumbest thing you can do with your life. I will always take a big risk and try to achieve something great once then accept defeat and never try for the top. I know that in reality there is still a ?% chance we are not getting beta this year but I would rather spend my days thinking that they are releasing it next week, and even when is doesn't get released I still hope for it the next one. Some may say I'm dreamer, but I'm not the only one.

You do realize that is incredibly pessimistic of you to say right

I am more of a cynic looking at every possibility, being a pessimist really isn't healthy psychologically. As well but being negative does not really make the wait any more pleasant, I guess misery like company. Also you are right miss he proved his is human.

And people accuse me of negativity. I think no matter what we will get a beta this year.

The fact Chucklefish could stop work and slap the title beta onto the game at any point, leads me to believe even if its new years eve, we will get a beta this year.

Now a /full/ release is much more up in the air. They said they knocked out tier two.. but they already had those assets and haven't implemented supposedly what makes T2 special. Given their own uncertainty about it at I49, the lack of answers to questions so far, and past delays.. it seems much more questionable then the beta.

I agree pessimism isn't the way to go (at least not for me), but I try to keep my optimism more balanced. For instance, I firmly believe that the chance of not getting beta this year is near zero (for reasons that everyone who already agrees with that statement doesn't need to hear, and everyone who doesn't will fail to be convinced by). It would take something both totally unexpected and utterly catastrophic happening in the next 4 months for us not to get it by Jan. 1, 2014.

That said, I think it's healthy not to start expecting any other time table than that. The choice of when to release beta isn't when we think the game is ready, it's when the devs do, and we have no way of knowing when that will be. So I personally think it's better to just chill back on the release predictions, and use our energy to encourage these guys and gals as they strive every day to make the game we all want to play.

I would not say your negative just maybe a little overemotional and dramatic, we all have are weakness I am a procrastinator. As always the delay thing does not bother me only hope I have is I sure hope beta comes out this year lol. I never try to get overly emotionally invested in the development process, just the game it self.

Game aside pessimism can be very harmful.

Now hold on, I'm not a pessimist in all regards. HOWEVER. When it comes to this game, I'm left no choice.
Thats a whole other topic which isn't for this thread.

Either way, the point I was TRYING to make, is don't put too much hope in many things in life, unless you're 100% they're going to happen. That is , though, being a realist.

Edit: I didn't mean to derail this topic with my comment though.

The way I see my post are more broad ranged then targeted. I mean that in the sense that my personal opinions are that "pessimism is stupid" not that you are a pessimist. I feel like people take my posts the wrong way. I never try to aim my posts at anyone I rather state my thoughts/beliefs/opinions on said things and try to get a dialog going. On a rare occasions I will target a post at someone but I try to be as constructive as possible when I do.

What was that saying about learning to ride a bike? Something about it being hard to do at first but once you figure it out its really easy? I imagine it's about like that. Now that they know HOW they are gonna make them, the rest should follow a similar pattern and be fairly easy. Just from my perspective though. (And it's not like I even know how to ride a bike so, yea.)

The saying about Bike is that you never forget it once you learn it. It's killing that gets easier over time (At least according to Solid Snake)
