the point of my post was that while the bible can be a valid source of ideas, hope, faith and inspiration, regarding it as a book of facts is just plain ignorant to science and the workings of the world around us. many christians still eat prawns, have tattoos, are gay (which is accepted by a lot of modern christians) or wear cotton despite the fact that the bible tells them not to and that creationism guy should thread the bible like the aforementioned christians do, but instead he takes it as empirical truth, making other, nicer and more respectable christians look like fools.

meanwhile, finding the origin of humanity up to the smallest details can give us cures to many diseases, both physical and psychological, since it means understanding ourselves which is very important. it also can give us tools to predict how we'll continue to evolve and how to combat diseases (and grow wings).
