    Man, the Vulcan Laser in FTL is terrifying
    It starts out with a charge time of 11 seconds
    But it gets faster every time it fires
    Well, not every time. Its speed caps after five shots.
    ...It caps at 1.1 seconds of charge time.
    That is substantially faster than shields can recharge. It plus the Hacking system can take down really any ship except the boss.
    Really, it could take down the boss, too, if you have Cloaking.

    Refracting it through the transparent block is even cooler now.

    Gah
    The thing about my laser pointer is
    It's basically a fancy diode stuck in a fancy casing
    And everything else in it is cheap.
    So it's really finicky.
    It is ludicrously bright when functioning at full power, but it takes some doing to get it to actually run at full power.
    However, shining it at a wall in a dark room will illuminate the entire room enough to at least somewhat see things if you manage it.

    i've played it for an hour and seriously the best part is the first 20 mins
    afterwards though it gets kinda bland, you only have so much map to run on and a very finite range of explosions and it just reeks of potential that hasn't been utilized yet.

    kind of like starbound, actually. So much to do, so much to see, so much we haven't even gotten close to realizing
