Holy Merchants!

So I've not seen this many merchants/npc in one place without it being a settlement of some form. But this is what I discovered out of the blue today, anyone else come across this often?

 

probably a bug spanwing too many of them, or some merchant convention

 

that'd be so cool if there was some kind of merchant convention to be honest.

 

The reason this happens is that there is a village/town/house on the planet that has quests, Any quest that spawns a "shop" to retrieve an item from usual places the merchant in the same place (the ruined bridge, the mine entrance, that hill over there, etc.) even when the quest times out, the shopkeeper doesn't despawn till you walk near his spawn point, When this happens more than a handful of times, this is the result

 

Yeah, on my colony planet, the mine shaft entrance area gets cluttered with merchants from time to time from doing quests, my main town is also full of random npc's that don't live there

 

on one planet I depopulated an entire glitch fortress only to repopulate it with quests from the town on the other side of the planet

 

Just curious, do you start then abandon quests often? Good example would be the seed ones.

My guess is that they spawn via the quest and don't run till you visit the area near them.

Sometimes I do yeah, I was on a quest at the time.

 

I was in an abandoned hylotl castle and i found a hylotl merchant in it

after i ransacked the place and looted everything as i was leaving this random floran merchant beamed down to my planet right at the entrance of the castle

the merchant was a floran girl wearing a strawberry hat


i was confused


is that common for strawberry hatted merchants to randomly beam down to your planet?


didnt screenshot it because that merchant wasnt selling anything good

 

I think its relatively safe to assume the cosmetics on a merchant are relatively random, so yeah I guess?

 

Also safe to say that there was a quick quest involving that merchant that spawned on that planet.
