Hide wires in mission areas

It kind of spoils the immersion when I can see all the wires while on a mission. I can see where all the traps are and the hidden switches and can pretty much track where wires are going to make puzzles easier.

I think any area that uses a shield generator (such as those in the story missions) should hide all wires and circuits if the player holds their wire tool. Since the area is protected from the matter manipulator and wire tool anyway it seems pointless showing them.

I mean, just look at this mess:

Who wants to see all that while on an exciting quest? And it's unavoidable since you scroll through the hotbar for a weapon or whatever and see this all this crap flash up on the screen.

oh geez. i never used the wiring tool during missions, so i didn't see it, but yeah, that breaks the immersion.

I don't really see the issue here. If anything, it prevents the dungeons from feeling like they work in a way that can't be replicated and it also prevents puzzles from becoming a brute force ordeal.

I've got an idea. When you don't want the immersion broken, don't pull the wire tool out? Is that a bad idea?

Also the outpost and the missions currently do work in a way that can't be replicated (as far as I can tell). In that mission screenshot above, there are invisible power sources which drop nothing when broken (/settileprotection 0 false).. and in the outpost there are invisible motion/proximity sensors. Maybe there is a way to reproduce this stuff, but I haven't figured out how that is.

I wouldn't be opposed to the wire layer being hidden for missions, but I would also miss being able to see how certain stuff works.

They only use tiles that aren't obtainable, but the invisible proximity sensors act like their normal counterparts, so it can be mostly replicated apart from aesthetics.

I actually like being able to see what is in there, it allows me to prepare for what comes next. Modders might want to see if everything is wired up correctly. Disable the wire tool in missions and have a command(only accessed by admins) called "/showwiretool"(it is a toggle like /admin)?

When you scroll through the hotbar with your mouse you can't help but land on the Wire tool or at the very least past it momentarily and see all the wires flash up for a second and then you scroll back to it sit there for five minutes staring in wonderment at the complexity of it all before realising you just ruined the damn game.
