So ive seen allot of bases/houses that got destroyed by meteors..

Whenever you plan to build on a planet watch at the background and see if there are any crater/holes in the mountains on the background; if so YES there will be meteors..if there is nothing and its clean there will be nothing

if there are mountains with rocks/dirt on top. its most likely a "vulcano" and give those little meteor showers.

    its as simple as that.

hope this helps u guys build a base that lasts (sorry for bad english)

This is unsubstantiated rumor, and there are multiple reports (including planets I, myself, have seen) where there are no craters or mountains and meteors still rain down. The opposite is also true: craters without meteors. Likewise, asteroid fields have no effect on whether or not there will be meteors.

I've been on a planet without craters in the background and had a large meteor nearly hit me in the face.

  6. This is correct, I've seen meteors fall on planets with no craters in the background. while it would be very cool if later down the road they would actually make it so only planets with crater backgrounds have showers, it's false now.

Have you found an actual connection in the game code, or are you just repeating the same old rumor?

This Reddit post seems to debunk that, since this guy saw no connection between the background parallax and the weather types.

it has been confirmed time and again that this is false. there is currently a small chance that any and all planets might generate with meteors or not. there is no other factors taken into account.

Sorry but you are wrong my friend, the background provides no guarantee that the weather will NOT be meteor storms.
The only way to figure it out is to spend enough time on the planet to see what kind of weather it has.

  11. I've heard that on a Tuesday if your flamingo stance is strong,
and you hold a horchata in your right elbow cranny,
then the meteors shall fall on Friday instead. :proper:

I'm on a planet with craters in the background and none to be seen (got my little base there)
I say : just mere rumors.

I would love to do a serious and definitive test for the case of meteors......
However for some reason I never see them!!!

After much deliberation I came to rest on three reasons for the lack of meteors in my game.

1: I have been lucky enough not to land on a planet with them.

2: I don't spend enough time on planets that do have them.

3: The meteors sense that a bad ass Hylotl master swordsman resides on said planet and decide it's safer to crash in to you lot.

After careful consideration the most obvious and realistic reason is number 3.
So if anyone needs meteor protection, you can hire me to stand on your house and glare at the sky

You can go find the world file that you generated and search it with an editor like Notepad++ for instances of "meteor" before you even set foot to know for sure...

Or do what I do and bounce around and visit 20 worlds, then search all of their files for clues at once ("meteor", "glowingrain", "northern") and go back to the ones you want and avoid the one's you don't. ("northern" refers to northern lights / aurora)
