Android already uses xml for layouts, and you can change them on the fly through code in the app, so you can pretty much do that already anyways.

As long as your nook is based off of android 4.0 or later it should work, unless you don't have the play store app in which case you'd have to sideload it, not sure how that works on a nook though.

I do plan on it, but because previous versions don't support the current ActionBar (bar on top of apps) features, I would have to maintain two versions of the app, luckily google lets you have more than one apk per app, so the user wouldn't notice anything, it would just be more work for me, so it may not be for a little while.

Well I made all of the artwork/resources from scratch (took a long time too cuz it's all vector art) including the app icon which was done mostly from memory (turned out closer to the actual logo than I expected), so I don't see any issue.

    Already answered here:)

Yes, please! If everyone had a new android phone it would make my life as a developer so much easier :)

I think it's more the users that annoy me. The people around me obsessed with them, and than when I got one it wasn't even that great. People keep saying android is so much better and ''open'' than the ihpone but I don't see much of a difference. Android is not open, iphone is just extremely closed. Than there are people that think smartphones will take over gaming, even tough there's no BUTTONS on the thing(the touchscreen controls suck) and the games are mostly just casual free flash games, but the phone versions usually cost money. Now, some flash games have the demo onlinenow, but you can ONLY buy it with a smartphone . see my ssiter walking with friends and they're all texting instead of talking to eachother.
There are people that keep calling me a no life because I'm behind my PC a lot , but those are the people that are constantly behind that damn smartphone as well. To me it just seems like a mobile inferior PC, especially because I can't stand touchscreens. Also, I thought phones were made to call. The blackberry at least had a call button, so whatever you were doing you could call somone with 2 clicks of that button. But on this android phone I have to push way more buttons just to call somone for some reason.
So SmartTV's are there too now. So are they going to put smart before anything? What's next, you ask for a new camera and they take you to the smartphones?Or will they make a smartcamera that cal call?

It's not really the smartphones themselves that annoy me, it's the obsession people have with it like it's some godly device, but than the people keep calling me a no life nerd, while they're doing the exact same thing

A few points if I may:

That depends somewhat on which android phone you had, if you had a nexus device like I do, you'd see that they are very open. Not only am I running a non-stock rom, but it's one that was compiled from source code - not just "customized". Not only that, but there are several groups working on operating systems to run on android phones that aren't even based on the android system. iPhone users couldn't ever even dream of that. Not to mention that you can side-load apps (no need to use the android market) and can even distribute apps on alternative markets (such as the amazon marketplace).

If they game was actually designed with touch controls in mind, they it's fairly decent. However, I agree some do suck, I mean trying to play an FPS on a phone? are you serious? That's just dense. Emulating console game controls doesn't work so well either. Though I have heard of a bluetooth game controller for android that I hear is pretty good. Nonetheless, I think 10 or 15 years from now some people will be looking back at those games with the same nostalgia we look at old console/PC games with. To be honest there are actually some pretty decent franchises appearing exclusively on mobile.

This has been true with any type of cellphone, long before any smartphone came about.

Not sure what'd wrong with your phone (maybe some unholy amalgamation "customized" by the manufacturer? Gotta go pure nexus, man.), but I can quite easily call people with 2 presses from anywhere. Then again, I hardly ever call anyone. To be honest, I think calling is more for urgent things or when you want a nice chat, but I know it's quite annoying to receive a call in the middle of doing something (especially for a college student) so unless I need someone's immediate answer, I usually opt for a text because it won't disturb them and they can get to answering it when they aren't busy. Also, even though I hardly call anyone on it, I didn't get my android phone as a toy. I have found it very useful since I got it. Because I don't have a whole lot of money, I would rather put my money in one very nice device rather than a bunch of cheaper not as nice devices whose functions can all be accomplished by my phone. For instance, my phone has a very good quality camera so I stopped using my camera (my phone takes better pictures and I don't have enough money for a new one). I use it as my alarm clock because I can set a different alarm for every day of the week (and multiple alarms too, because I don't wake up easy). I easily sync up my university's calender to my phone so I always know at a glance what's happening (I input all my classes, too). It tells me the weather on my unlock screen and I receive all of my email from several accounts right on my phone (for someone always on the go during the school year, I don't have time to check that on my computer). Oh and it's also a better navigation device than any standalone gps on the market and google navigation is scary accurate (it always predicts my arrival time withing a couple of minutes... Including rest stops and traffic conditions). Shoot I've even typed up whole papers on my phone (thanks google drive) during class and then printed it over the network (from my phone) to be ready for the next class.

I feel the same way about console gaming fan-boys. PC MASTER RACE. Although to be fair, at least the smartphone addicts can be walking around getting a little exercise while us PC junkies are sitting in a chair :)

Anyways, just saying, for the majority of people, smartphones are extremely useful. And so long as you use it the right way it boosts productivity too (saves me lots of time).

Sorry for the long off-topic post, folks :)

I've used my mothers sansumg galaxy S for a while before having this LG optimus L3(which is like, a very shitty version of that phone).
I guess the rage I get just comes from my last sentance:

'' It's not really the smartphones themselves that annoy me, it's the obsession people have with it like it's some godly device, but than the people keep calling me a no life nerd, while they're doing the exact same thing ''

Also, even if you design with a touchscreen in mind ,there's only so many type of games you can make with it that work well. Rayman jungle run's fun. But try making somethhing more complex and the controls start to suck.

Yeah, like I said, an FPS on a phone does not work lol. I've tried one and it was terrible. Then again, some console gamers might like it... The controls felt kinda like trying to aim with a controller joystick. I don't care, MOUSE MASTER RACE.

Oh this is great. I think it would be a good idea to let us buy it too to remove ads. Thanks for this!z

EDIT: After using it for a few minutes, it's only News and Crafting Recipes. So basically just News at the moment. It's missing Forums and the FAQ from the homepage, and Media/Soundtrack. Will you be adding those?

You Sir are a God. Now I can check the update log without having to load the site. Nice work and keep it up. If the price was right I would most definitely buy it to remove ads!

Sorry about that! I'll try and add support for android 2.3 as soon as I can (haven't looked into 2.2 support yet, but we'll see).

The remove ads feature will be in the next update (should be up this weekend) and will have variable donation amounts (most likely starting at $0.99 or $1.99) depending on how much you want to (or can) support a starving developer (not really, just swimming in loans) :)

Well the app description does say it's only news right now :) Read the description of the app and you'll get an idea of some of the things I'll be adding (mostly when Starbound beta begins). It's not meant to completely replace the Starbound website, it's meant to be a convenient way to get the latest Starbound news, and (once the Starbound beta begins) provide a searchable database of info on the game (crafting recipes, item stats, etc.). Also, if you bought the game I expect you'd already have the soundtrack loaded on your phone/mp3 player/whatever you use ;) So no, it's not "missing" anything, I just have no way of adding the other features yet because I have to wait till the beta starts so I can gather the info I need. However the forums feature is a possibility, I will most likely be adding a way to access news post comments, so that means I might add full forum access later, if I can.

So, it keeps bugging me pretty often about all the updates that I've already read prior to installing the app. I don't want it bugging me! I think that it should notify me once and only once until a whole new update comes up. But at least "Mark All Read" does the job I think... but it still shouldn't notify me so often about unread stuff.

EDIT: Hey, noticed you edited your post, thanks for listening :) Although, the temporary fix is very simple, you did reveal a fundamental problem that I anticipated when making this app: as long as there are unread posts, notifications fire every time it checks for updates (whether it receives any new posts or not) which means the time stamp on the nofitication will not be the time which it initially received the latest updates, but the time it last checked for updates. Although this isn't app-breaking, it is a problem in the design of some underlying code and I will be fixing it (mostly because I'm a bit OCD) in one of the next two updates :)

I wonder how long it will be before a headset is made where you just touch/use telepathic signals to make it do stuff. Something like a Scouter from DBZ, but connected to the interent. Always, constantly, telling you about things in the world, what people think, and updating you with the latest news.

.... Yeah no, I dont want that either.

Honestly, I would love that lol. Any decent developer would make it in such a way that it would only tell you things you wanted/needed to know and would let you disable things you don't care about, so it wouldn't be constant or annoying (just like how most apps, mine included, let you disable notifications).
