One thing I've always liked about UT over quake was the movement. If you get into a situation, you can dodge out and build up momentum very quickly. In quake, you're dead if you don't have the faster mouse sensitivity, reflexes, and aim...
(I'm a filthy cowardly casual... I keep getting roflstomped in Quake live...)

 

You're totally right though, quake's movement could use work. But getting sploded is part of the fun

Half-Life Deathmatch is best deathmatch. That might however be my nostalgia speaking.

 

Not when you can't even last a few seconds before promptly dying... (Seriously! I counted! One match, my longest life was four seconds... FOUR SECONDS!)

Once I can build up enough circle strafe momentum, I can at least get one kill... At least... Once a match... Maybe twice...

 

I completed all of the movement challenges in QL, but I can't change direction quickly enough to dodge hitscans... (Plus I instinctively press shift to dodge, leading to me suddenly crouching before promptly dying...)

Probably is. Now it's devolved to squeakers and tryhards...

 

Eh, to be honest I don't really care what game in that genre you play, just play whatever makes you happy.

 

I had no intention to turn this into who cloned who, or Paladins vs Overwatch ( I play both of them - Paladins since closed beta and Overwatch since today). But I am glad, you enjoy Unreal, I could never get into the game.

I asked out of curiosity and possibility to form a play group or something.

 

Well, I installed paladins, but have yet to try it. Today, I have less homework, but I promised someone I would playtest their mod.

 

I'm absolute shite at bhop/strafe, but i still feel dirty when i jump in QL and get pushed forward as if i could really do it.

Ignore me every so often playing Smite or Halo Combat Evolved if I want my multiplayer PVP.

Wait, does Brawlhalla count as that type of game? If so then yeah, I play it often with my friend and only my friend. (Us two can take out a team of 6 AI on hard with 12 lives in under 15 minutes!)

Edit: Every so often meaning I've not done so in months. Possibly not this year at all...
