Help With Liquids (Lava & Water)

I'm fairly new to Starbound and I am hoping some of you pros can help me fix my base. I have 2 questions:

    1) Is there a way to get water to auto-replenish itself? I have created a tunnel full of water that I am using to enter my base. At the bottom, I have a room that drains it out before I can enter (keeps water out of the base). I have to manually refill the tunnel with water as the water level won't stay (becasue I am draining it).

    2) How do I fix this (see pic below)? I removed the blocks hoping the lava would fill itself in but no matter how hard I try, it won't level out. I have manually filled it in and it drains out after a few minutes. I don't want to block it off as I am trying to get the little meteors to fall through the lava so i can see them inside my base at the bottom.

Any help/suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Is the tunnel full of water to cushion your fall down?

The lava ocean is made of special self replenishing blocks. The area where the island is doesn't have those blocks. The lava drains through where there is no background, so unless you could put a background on the entire ocean there's no way to stop it from draining.

    That's.. odd.
The magma should even itself out. Or at least it's supposed to. Maybe it works differently since it's a magma ocean and not just a pool?

Currently, we cannot create "infinite water"
However, oceans containa "infinite water"; but if you put blocks on an "infinite water" and mine those blocks, "infinite water" will no longer exist there, but nearby "infinite water" blocks will spill normal water. Harvesting either "infinite water" or normal water will only give you normal water.
If you mine the back out of the background, liquids will fall out, preventing it from evening it out. Make sure the background cannot allow liquids to fall out. You can check if liquids will fall out: If you can beam up, liquids can fall out. If you cannot beam out, liquids can't fall out.

The issue is that under the background left by the island there is no background. The regular lava will drain out through the infinite lava, there's literally no way to contain it without covering the top half of the ocean all the way around with background wall.

Yes it's to cushion my fall. I've accidentally killed myself from the fall damage so that's the solution I came up with.

Hmm...I tried filling in the background where I thought it was draining out but as you can see, it didn't work. I think you could be right. Thanks for replying :)[DOUBLEPOST=1423506944][/DOUBLEPOST]
Before the update, I had a water base and I swear the water fixed itself. Maybe it is the lava...Thanks for responding :)[DOUBLEPOST=1423507041][/DOUBLEPOST]

Thanks for replying! You are right, I can beam out so obviously I have some more work to do :)

We can only hope to get some pipes and pumps for wiring in the future. Until then. Id make the air lock smaller, and just collect the water instead of draining it.
Teleport pads in the future will also solve this and you just jump directly into base once you establish it.

You could have the water that catches you lower than the door in to avoid needing to drain it at all.

Pumps & pipes would be an awesome addition!! Fingers crossed!! Thanks for replying![DOUBLEPOST=1423516091][/DOUBLEPOST]
I considered this...Originally I had a little water to catch me and had single blocks to climb back up with. Every time I fell down though, I would hit one and take damage, sometimes dying.

Ultimately, I started using the water to float down (so the single blocks wouldn't kill me) and then swim back up the tunnel instead of jumping up through it. I then filled it with as much water as possible so I didn't have to constantly refill it.

I think what I'll do for the time being, is shrink the draining room size and use my Matter Manipulator to gather some of the water to refill the tunnel. If I can recoup some of it, I won't have to keep a lot of water on hand to refill it as much. I'm getting faster at opening and closing the door before too much water gets through. I was just really hoping there was a way to have it regenerate itself, like it did when I was on an ocean planet. I never really thought this through I guess lol! Just thought it would be awesome to have an under-lava base :D Thanks so much for replying and for your suggestions!!!
