Help get the Narrator of Bastion to do a Voice in Starbound

Help me get @GlancingOnHuman 's attention to get him to do some narration for Starbound

And I really hope you guys are in for making him aware of our passionate little community and how much we would appreciate him being involved in Starbound. Just write him some kind words and show him something what you really love about Starbound and I'm sure he will at least respond to Tiy and the team.

If you don't know who Logan Cunningham is, he was the narrator in Bastion:

It sounds a little dangerous to ask for us to help get his attention. Remember when the community was trying to get the attention of that youtuber, what's-his-name, for the votes on whatever-that-website-was-called? Disaster.
Our passion borders on insanity. It might work if we are cautious and don't over stalk and annoy this guy. Unfortunately, he is in our sights now. Run, run while you still can GlancingOnHuman.

Well, I loved the narrator in Bastion so it would be awesome to have him narrate the intro of Starbound as well

Why not Da Xing?

 

I wouldn't be so sure about that. Bastion is a much-loved game and Logan made it the unique little gem it is. I think most of the Starbound Community would approach him in a way that is both respectful and appreciative. Excitement isn't wrong, if he sees thousands of people getting excited about the possibility of him doing voice work for Starbound, maybe that's enough for him to talk to Tiy. That's pretty much all this is about anyway

 

I'm sure Tiy'll get his attention sooner or later. As long as he fit well with the narration I'd think he'd probably be great on Starbound as well. I think Dave Fennoy would be pretty good too, although I imagine he's pretty expensive nowadays so probably not really viable. He has such a diverse voice though.

 

Wait, I thought everyone speaks a sort of garbly, sim-ish language in starbound?

 

Which would make for a real helpful narrator, I'm sure.

 

I loved his narration in Bastion, it was a good game, but it was narration that made it a great game. But I don't know how it would work here. If it's the same narration style then it's just ripping off Bastion. If it's something decent, then it might just be too reminiscent of Bastion because it's the same narrator. With that being said, it'd probably work, there are a few narrators I instantly recognize, but I don't dismiss what they're saying just because it reminds of their other works.

It's just a voice over narration for the tutorial, nothing more afaik.

 

Da Xing came on our mumble server once, posing as some Siberian exchange student.

Everybody mopped it up then facepalmed after realising this.

He still comes on every now and then.

 

Tip for Tiy: Shot 3 bottles of scotch in half an hour, smoke a few cartons of cigarettes, set your alarm to go off at 5am and you'll wake up sounding just like this guy.

 

Getting him to do voiceovers could have been the 4th stretch goal

I've never played Bastion, so please tell me he doesn't talk that much during the actual game. While his voice is nice to listen to, he's no Morgan Freeman. Also a little emotion would do wonders - I don't feel like having an apathetic disembodied voice narrating my gameplay.

 

if you've never played it, then i can understand your feelings. however, you really need to experience it instead of prematurely judging it based on how the concept sounds.
and i'm not talking about watching a let's play or whatever. actually go and play it NAOW.
