Greetings, everyone! I've recently found Starbound through the Terraria newsfeed on steam. I'm glad I was able to get this name before the inevitable influx of users that will no doubt be registering. Anyway, this game greatly interests me. Real pity I can't play it right now, but I look forward to watching it's progress towards the release.
Heeeeeeeeeeeeeey, welcome to the forums! Explore around a bit, I'm sure you'll find it to your liking! We also have a pretty awesome IRC, you should pop in sometime!
Indeed, I've seen the irc link on the main portal. But I digress, I can not pop in right now. I've gotta sleep and prepare for tomorrow's events. But, thank you very much for the warm welcome.
QUESTION!!! Have you done anything in java? And welcome to the forums I'm pretty sure like 90% of the people on here are also drooling to get this game as well man me being one of em. If you got any questions, fire em my way and I'll do my best to help you
No I haven't. However, I've heard the two are quite similar (Correct me if I'm wrong). I basically have no experience coding. Learning from scratch, and boy is it one big scary code filled universe out there for me to learn. ^_^; Now I've got a question: Do you code?
Greetings and salutations although we can't play it yet the more time in development means the more awesome that's going to come from it.
Yes i do code a bit, and i asked the question because the tutorial program for java is HelloWorld.exe lol
Hello and welcome to the Forums, Shift! If you have any questions, load them into a Stuka zu Fuß (Walking Stuka) and fire them at me. I shall do my best to answer any that do not blow me to bits. I hope that you enjoy your stay here! Ps here is a Stuka zu Fuß:
It is? o.o; I didn't know that. Aw. And I was planning on using my high orbit ion cannon. Pity. I don't have many questions to ask currently, other than asking for friendship.
Then friendship I shall give! *hugs* I suppose you could use a MAC if you have a Halo warship. That would also be fine.
Greetings, Shift. Welcome to you too! At least the fact that it won't be available for a long time will mean that they do put quite some effort in it, don't you think? Actually, it's the code that matters, not the filename, because an awful lot of programming languages (and their respective compilers) convert their code to machine language, which makes the extension .exe. Also, I'd think different tutorials would suggest different filenames. Source code, however, often have their own extensions, differing with every language. For example, JavaScript has .js, C++ has .cpp, I'm not sure what the source code extension for Java is, though.
.Class is a compiled Java source code file. .dpj is a Java source dependency file. .java is a Java language file. Note: I didn't know this off the back of my hand. However, google is a wonderful searching tool
