Health/stamina light bar that could go on your wall.

First off, imagine a light bar that would go on your wall above your computer. Next, imagine it somehow connected to Starbound, and would display your current health and/or stamina. The light bar could be split in half, one side for health, one side for stamina. Or it could just show one of the two. Or you could have two light bars that display either one. And now that I think about it, you could have three, the third one being for hunger.

Now, check this out, and let your imagination run wild! :D

Feel free to add your thoughts on this. :)

I feel I should add this as well to give you guys an idea of what I'm talking about.

in my honest opinion, it would be VERY distracting, cool as hell, but distracting.

are you saying like when you're in your spaceship it scans you and tells you your life force?

if so it sounds like a cool idea

No, it would update the light bar in real time. If you get hit and your life bar in-game goes down, the lights on the bar would go down as well.

So, practical mood lighting? Not sure I'd be wanting to look away from the screen for those things, personally.

All it would need is a quick glance, I edited in a new link on the first post to give you guys an idea of what I'm talking about. Hope you enjoy it as much as I have. :)

Doesn't sound like a bad idea. I'm thinking you mean something on your physical wall that indicates the health / status of a game character, depending on the game you're playing on the computer. If I'm not off on my understanding, then I suppose you could call it thinking outside the box.

At first I thought you were talking about something in-game until I finished reading it. It still gave me an odd, little idea. Why not have some kind of indicator that you can make in-game that displays time or health? Something you can place on the back wall of your ship or base. Time would have to be something universal like Star Trek's stardate. A health indicator could go in something like a medical bay. Or maybe have a specific bed that indicates the health of whoever is laying in it.

Sounds pretty cool to me. I like that water video thing, gives off a good representation...

Funny you should talk about this, I just saw the Liquid Lifebar the other day! I'd love to have a blinkytape that did something similar :3
I don't think that it being distracting is a bad thing at all, if anything it'd probably help me as I have a bad reputation for not checking my health status often enough :zombie:

Neat idea, It's plausible in several ways.
    Wired and wireless.

Wired meaning some clever programming and hooking up one of those led bars to a usb cable and etc

wireless would involve a router or gutted net-book with a little more complex coding and a constantly running game/computer.

If i use what i did for my friends home server as a basis for calculating the cost.(Basically making a kindle size board that let him know when and who of his friends joined his server)
I'd say it range in the 70$-310$ range with the low end after some refinements to make it easily produced and only counting cost for supplies (not labour).

either way it'd be cool and pricey but hey if you have that kind of liquid income for it go for it.

Yeah, It's definitely a cool idea. Not saying it would take any additional effort to use, but I think it would be better suited to the borders of the screen. Even if I wouldn't use it myself, it never hurts to have more options!

You know the idea i had in my head based on the title was totally not what you meant. I thought you meant a place-able light for like a base that had your health and energy totals display. That way you could assign them to you, then go off, and anyone at the base can see if you were in trouble. Not all that practical but could be really cool.
