    The title pretty much says it all, I'm wondering whether we might get a system similar to terraria (Finding health upgrades), but that's likely to change. However, What do you want in game?

    You could get more health AND more armor.

    Probably like Terraria, although I have a hunch that you won't be able to increase your health in Starbound, and the armor system and damage system is just going to be very well thought out and calculated, so that each tier of armor progressively provides you with more and more durability without making you completely invincible.
     
  5. I would have preferred craftable health upgrades and armour rather than heart pickups from Terraria, maybe in form of a tech or some kind of augmentations or something like that.

    Is it just me or are some of these not mutually exclusive?

    Anyway, I'd like for them to stick with the "everything depends on gear" plan. Didn't fancy Terraria's health handling that much.

    Armor durability primarily w/ an option of added health via specialized augmentation at higher tiers, sort of like the gem system in Diablo (except instead of the gems adding a flat stat, the augmentations options would differ between
    defensive and offensive options) such as speed, damage, etc.
    but i wouldn't mind either way =)

    Exactly the tech option would be grat. Or something similiar to it.

    But as others said, I don't thing we will be able to upgrade our health in Starbound.

    The "All of The Above" option includes "No Health Upgrades" and "Craftable Health Upgrades" in it. MAKE UP YOUR MIND! :facepalm:

    That being said, I voted for the armor option. :fusrodah:

    I'm not EXACTLY sure how the health/armor system works, but based on what I've seen it sounds like health is a static value (let's say 100?) while armor decreases the damage you take. That's fine, and that's how armor should work... but I'm not crazy about the idea of never-changing max health. ESPECIALLY if max health does happen to be 100. It seems like such a small number in my head, but then I have to consider games like Pokemon and Terraria where getting 100 health is actually a pretty nice achievement. Damage won't be MMO-style 100k DPS, it'll probably be smaller... resulting in cringing at seeing 10s instead.

    And again that's fine, but I would prefer it if either of the following happened: 1) instead of 100 being max (again, I'm assuming this number) I'd rather it be 1000. I feel like that's a much more solid number to work with that doesn't feel like too much or too little, and still allows for some big-ish numbers to make you feel panicked when you see them. 2) either with or without the 1000 value, I'd really like to see armors/weapons/tech that can give you bonus health as well as armor. There's something to be said for favoring pure health over defensive power, and vice versa.

    the only thing I don't really like is Terraria's health upgrading system

    it doesn't really depend on how much you play or how many things you kill, its kind of dumb luck. Sometimes you happen to find a bunch of heart crystals or sometimes you don't see them for days. Then there's times where you can just start off and give people millions of health crystals.

    I'd like it to be mostly about armor, but upgrading your max health would be nice if it was something you could craft with generally common materials. You can decide to upgrade your health or make like a bed or something I don't know.
