My friends and I powered ourselves to level 10. enjoying it so far. Looking forward to seeing what you do for bosses on 5-X. Only gripe we have so far is healing. As it stands it takes us 20 minutes to get fully healed. not sure if we're missing something or not. We under stand you may not be looking at end game yet but implementing bandages for each theater now that you have changed the way armor/damage/health works may be an idea.

Could even create Beds that give more health.

I just had a thought to try out the top theater beds to see if there's a change. We've been running around with tents or hay stacks ( what a hoot ).

Loving the game so far folks. I've even had an itch to try out modding. Might take a look at what I could do with healing and beds / bandages / stims.

    Cheers,

    Samo

Beds are just free healing. Use everything else in most cases because none of them are that expensive anyway.

edit: Oh, level 10 I guess would take a while. nevermind.

I don't understand your usage of "theater". I'm going to assume you're referring to tiers.

If that's the case, each metal tier already has a bed you can craft. If you really need good fast healing, try cooking food via the cooking table. They can give you far more benefits than the other healing items.

In my opinion, beds should restore 1% per second, no matter the HP (ex.: 100 HP = 1hp per second, 500HP = 5hp per second).
That would make it 1:40min to restore full health.

The waiting time is long enough to be an incentive to be more careful and use bandages and whatnot.

There is absolutely no reason for the current healing system. If it takes 20 minutes to restore health in a bed, all you have to do is enclose yourself under the surface and sleep.
The only difference is that you lose 18minutes of playtime for no reason.

yeah, level 10 max armor you have 500 health. The stim packs are nice. still takes a bunch of them to heal up and a good amount of time. We'll have to hunt more down.

I find it kinda sad how at lv 10 even a stimpack only heals about 4 bars of hp or so

Yeah, i wish there was stronger healing items.

I wasn't aware that some of the cooked food gave health. We've been doing a fare amount of farming but just so we don't starve. I'll have to hunt down some of the more exotic ingredients.

yea food is great as a healing thing, I used to spam hamburgers on my human cause they get that recipe to start with (?)

Once you get a cook spawner and you're human you can mass produce hamburgers which are just like stimpacks but cost 15 pixel (2 wheat for 5 pixel, 1 alien meat for 5 pixel) to actually make

1% would be fine. I Kinda liked having to dig out a spot to rest. Made it feel like we where ruffing it. and is a neat part of the exp.

We should also be able to craft med-kits. Maybe 4 Bandadges and a jar of some healing salve...would have to be craftable based off a plant you can harvest. Could also lead to player crafted stim-paks..maybe less intensity than npc ones but longer duration? I think it'd solve some issues with higher tier healing items being needed..not have us chugging potions in a sci-fi setting, but allowing the player to have a reason to grow plants and perhaps farm more.

I don't know that they ever tweaked any of the healing items when they added +HP on armor. So they could all still be based on 100 max HP. I'm sure it will get sorted in a future patch, though.

    - Focus on jungle planets and gather plantfiber (destroy the bushes on the ground with you weapon while running along the surface)
    - Upgrade your bandages to Nanowraps. Healing is a lot faster with those! (can be unlocked with the portable pixel printer)

it's still pretty damn slow if you have t10 armor

i heard about them and i was like

    OH YEA

    NEW BANDAGES

NO MORE WAIT 5 YEARS TO GET FULL HP

    talk about disappointment

    they're expensive to make too

need bandages then 50 pixel per bandage

Thing is, they haven't gone to develop the tier 10. They're at tier 4 right now. So don't expect things to be balanced at higher tiers.

not sure if anyone has tried this (im not all that far atm either so i couldnt try and test it myself) but how about taking off your armor before using a bed/healing item. on planet, this is dangerous but if its safe where you are, it might help seeing as the health boost is on the armor, and not permanent (right?)

i havnt used a bed since i found bandages on the first day of play. food is the key to healing in this game. the best foods seem to need carrots. the 2 foods i use for healing are carrot bread and wartweed stew, both have healing 3 effect wich does about 45% of my hp bar( 500hp)
farming sucks atm in the game and is kinda useless ( i made a huge wheat and carrot farm) so you need to hit the npc villages and find the vendors that sell ingreds for 4pixels each (1 carrot bread = 16pixels, 1 wartweed stew= 12 pixels apc)
have a look on the wiki at some foods http://starbounder.org/Cooking there are many more than the 2 i use
