I saw this picture, Tiy's Twitter's background and noticed how the hazard suit guy stands out in the serene forest environment. It's like he's expecting a flood of green sludge to wither and destroy that environment. That gave me the idea of how awesome it'd actually be. You could have barrels of green deathly liquids (produced as a crafting product/ingredient?) to use as a chemical weapon! Every now and then you'll need to eradicate an area infested with particularly pesky aliens (or people), or set up efficient traps for your base. Naturally there are less grim applications for such substances, from another point of view. Accidents do happen, and saving the nature and NPCs from a corrosive menace is an excellent quest for players. Plants in the contaminated area would wither and die and most kinds of monsters wouldn't be able to spawn there, and the ground would be unfertile until cleansed. Dangerous planets could naturally have eruptions of substances hazardous to living things, just like lava. You could have many varieties of hazardous materials. I can think of corroding, mutating and zombificating off the bat.
This could also apply to water! Picture Hylotl village pleading for help, because of an oil leak or some other kind of hazardous material being leaked to water where the Hylotl live (do they live in water?).
Sounds like more of an item suggestion but I think stuff like this would already be in the game because of planets like the tentacle planet with green chemicals and such.
