Having a bit of trouble with playing

It’s pretty late in the evening for me right now, but I wanted to go ahead and start this thread while I am still awake.

I’ve been having some trouble trying to load up Starbound for the past 3 months, I want to say, and even those times when it does load, it either doesn’t load the main menu correctly (and by that I mean it stays a black screen), or it only lasts a couple seconds before wigging out. I’ve recently had to uninstall and reinstall my Microsoft XNA to get Terraria working again, but that did nothing to help Starbound. I’ve tried all kinds of things, from defragging, to updating my computer, to all the different compatibility options, trying my best to get this game working again, but to no avail. I not one to give up, but this has defeated me for longer than I care to admit, so I’m taking to the forums for answers.

Now, It’s past curfew and I have class in the morning, so I won’t be able to respond until probably half past four tomorrow afternoon, if I do get a response. I will be here then, and will be able to post a crash log then, if necessary. My only request right now is that someone be here to help me out, as I really enjoy this game, and wish to keep playing.

Anyway, can you give us the error log. Maybe some of us can help.

 

My problem is that it crashes anytime I try to snag some loot from Erchius Mining Facility.

That's okay. We all do have our own problem in our life that must be sort out.

Anyway, I think I found two possibly problem here. It is the Discord and the VSync. Other than those, I am not pretty sure. For the the Discord, I don't think so it pose much trouble, but for the VSync, I heard some people having similar problem like it. I think you need to turn the VSync off or something (sorry if it's not working, I am not an expert).

If it's not working, just say it, and let us think some of other solution.

 

That didn't work. I went to the config and turned the vsync option to false, and it still gave me the same error.

 

Hmm... so it may be the Discord. But I have no idea what to do with it, sorry.

But I try to look at the log again, and I found that the Steam platform service failed to initialize. I guess that might be the problem too. Try to reinstall it.
