What happened with Payday 2 was the introduction of "fee to pay" elements, huge wads of paid DLC, microtrasactions and "freemium currency" that costs real money to unlock prizes you win normally and blarblarblar on top of the purchase of the game, after years of 1) none of that and 2) the devs saying they would never do such a thing.

sooooooo yeah. Dropping that kind of thing into a game that went two years without IS kind of a wet turd that can -and should- piss off the long-term players and discourage new ones.

I have games that I've played many MANY hours that I would still give a bad review.
Because I'm playing a heavily modded version of the game to enjoy it and rating the state of their game, not my heavily modded version of it.

It's pretty simple really. I'm not going to give a game developer credit for someone else making their game good.

So I'd say look again or talk to some of the people who have a lot of hours in a game and still give it a bad review.
I'd be willing to bet most of them are playing heavily modded versions of whatever games in question.

I haven't played much in the last year. I'm waiting for 1.0. At some point they are going to have to stop adding stuff and release. Then they can add in more stuff after. Every dev blog makes me want to play again :) but its not finishing stuff , its always adding more game mechanics. (Feature creap?) I'm just concerned about losing anything or having to "start over" for the 25th time. I'm not complaining, just waiting. When the core game is done and 1.0 comes out I can guarantee I'll be putting sooooo many hrs into it. I could play it forever. Sometimes I think allowing reviews of early access might be a mistake. Some people can't grasp the concept.

They've said multiple times that right now they're simply adding features they want to see in 1.0, mainly the full story and balance. Allegedly after that they're gonna bring in a lot of content. Right now they're just working on core mechanics and the engine. The new weapons and stuff are either from the promised backer weapons, or simply something one of the devs threw in for fun. Gotta relax between intense serious creating sessions by having fun.

I'd argue pretty much most of what they've been showing off lately ARE vital to a strong 1.0 release.

A functional, useful, heavily-customizable rail system is an incredibly vital thing to put into a game about building things. Customizing a crew, well, the crew thing was one of the earliest thing they talked about before the game was even really a Thing. Planet generation and biome distribution is absolutely vital, since the vast universe is a major feature. Cities for at least the original six races, with polish and revamping to the "first draft" versions.

What we HAVEN'T seen lately are a lot of the "frippery", extra vanity armors and decor and silly things. Which I'm sure exist in spades, but can also be put off for later.

This game long ago justified the 15 bones I dropped on it, but as we get closer to what they consider 1.0, damn.

Very true. What this game will be in 1.0 is simply amazing, which is why every time I see another DEV blog I want to play :)
Just not until it's done tho...I don't want to "see" too much. Want to be surprised by stuff etc. It's just so DAMN HARD!!!

I don't think I'll be playing 1.0 Unmodded... Unless they expand the functionality that many mods bring to the game. The tent building materials and spaceship building materials need to be in the vanilla game, along with the power and automation systems introduced in mods.

The sprinkler system in the nightlies are a step in the right direction... I just hope they keep walking that path and not get distracted by furry critters or rainbow unicorn plants :/

They leave a negative review because of people like the OP. Maybe they want you to stop harassing them with their playtime and stalking them passivly.

If you're trying to start drama, please stop, because nobody here wants that.
You joined today and already a bunch of your posts have been seemingly aimed at causing arguments and just being a complete dick in general.
    Stop.

    Helpful examples:
    >Why are the futuristic race stuck in the 80s? thread.
    "Lack of consistency."
    >Is Starbound due for another marketing campaign? thread.
    "Hell no please not..."
    >Are we all cyborgs in Starbound? thread.
"No. Cyborgs are dark and mature content. Theres a lack of Dark and Mature content. Therefor there are no cyborgs in Starbound."
    >Spooky - Weird Dreamz Thread
" I had a dream... it was wonderfull... There were no problems in life. Then I saw a finished good version of Starbound, at that point I knew it was just a dream and woke up :/"
    >Dev Blog - 24 March - Tailor Moon
" Huehuehue that pun in Title... so awesome... please shoot me, I cant stop laughing huehuehue. *Sarcasm off.*"

You clearly have animosity towards the game and devs, so what exactly are you doing here, on their forums of operation? Judging by the above, your sole purpose here is to try to cause turmoil.

    >I'll be back thread.
"You guys are hilarious. I always come back for more, its just so much fun >:D"

Ah, I see I am probably correct. Basically you're here because we're a trollable community that you can screw around with. Brilliant.
Either smarten up or get the hell off the forums and stay off. We have enough people trying to start flame wars.

I love when people go an extra mile to bring examples. Just had to point that out.
    Ontopic:
I wish he would do a second part, but in an another thread he said he won't due to negative response =/

    Shaadaris Giant Laser Beams

To be blunt I agree that there shouldn't be a second part. While it was intended as amusing, people would probably take more of it as a flimsy excuse to bring up even more old drama and start a flame war on the forums, since there are definitely two extremist sides who won't budge in their opinions...

Also, fun fact, I was originally just going to tell them not to try to start drama, but on a whim I decided to check their older posts to see if that was a recurring theme...
    Spoiler: It was.
And so my lack of anger control took partial effect and I flipped out a little. I mean, the guy's new and maybe young, so I probably shouldn't be so hard on them for making a few bad posts in the beginning, but the comment about us "being fun" after they seemed to intentionally go around being a general nuisance... They're either extremely ignorant or intentionally trying to ruffle feathers, neither of which I want to see on this forum.

Of course, I doubt they'll listen to me. They will likely either post here again with some verbal beatdown against and continue with the passive-agressive anti-starbound posts. After all, if a troll's purpose is to troll, even if they don't think it's trolling, then the troll will continue to troll until someone with actual power kicks them off... And I've seen cases where even then, they keep returning after each exponentially longer ban just to be rude and loud, because apparently people on the internet have nothing better to do with their lives than incite hatred...

Someone please remind me why I come on these forums? Seriously, all I seem to do these days is rant and rage at trolls. I feel sorry for the moderators whose job it is to deal with these people, and unlike me they are sort of contractually obliged to stay calm and collected...

Well, the game is in something of a lull point in Big News Updates, even in Nightly. CF has been busy both with that convention and polishing major additions/changes we already knew about a while back. And since this is kind of how things will go as we get closer to 1.0, as they focus on polish rather than adding new features, I expect the trend to continue. Which means we really don't have a lot of new stuff to discuss, especially with CF being so tight-lipped on story elements. So people are gonna circle on old news, or old grudges, as it were.

No shame in taking a break. I mostly just lightly skim the threads as of recent, as I'm not playing the game much at the moment... waiting for the next major Stable patch to re-re-build my treehouse and compound on a new world with all the goodies. Once the new Stable drops and more people are playing with it, I'm sure we'll see more robust conversation... well, robust and positive.

Though really no shame in smacking around certain folks with, you know, facts. But if you're finding it wearying, take a breather.

Ya know, I'm just here trying to entertain a small bunch of people, I actually promised to come back with a better argument in my old thread. I really just don't want to separate people in this forum, We all love starbound and we should commit to watch eachother's back as a good community.

Kezeal say is true, but people just have different opinion, and that does not stop them to criticize
I always thought being "funny" might result in a more interesting and positive response
I mean, i could take another time to write the second part, but that would only spark a civil war and that's not the reason i joined this forum
To Shaadaris (incase you also criticising both me and GelRedTM)
This guy you are criticizing is new here, and i've met with many people who take jokes too seriously, and I'm sure that he just being playfully sarcastic to ya'll.
Instead of being negative about that, You should be the better person and actually say what you didn't like about him.
You can PM me if you have any grudges and I promise not to block you or tell anyone about what you wrote to me

Ya know.. my next theory won't be any controversial cause i'll write a theory about the element of solarium

I wasn't angry at you at all, I just think that bringing up this kind of thing will likely only lead to flame wars in the end. I've seen this kind of thing, where even a vague mention or joke about something will enrage the sides from cold-war to flame-war.

I was mad at GelRed because so far, almost every one of their posts have had some kind of antagonistic vibe to them, especially considering how quickly they went around and basically bashed every thread they went to. It just feels like really really obvious trolling, like they're trying to start a problem, rather than actually giving any good input.

Sorry if it seemed like I was bashing you, but that really wasn't the intention. It's just there are times and places for satire, but for a lot of people, anti-Starbound and anti-Chucklefish sentiments are still strong in their minds, no matter how stupid that is, and I was worried your posts, especially if you made a second part to this, would rile them up again.

I wouldn't mind a flame war as long as the second part was as fun as this one. Those flaming just aren't intelligent enough to read that he literally said "this is a Frackin satire alright I have no intention of offending anyone. Just here to make fun of some critics.". Those who want to whine will find a way to whine, no matter what.

    I don't get it.

I played Starbound about three years ago when I first bought it. Loved the game in its simplicity. The game has since then evolved and become even better and I still love it. Yeah, everything's not perfect, but complaining about arbitrary things like development time (which none of us have ANY idea about the details of) is stupid. They can take as much time as they want. I've never understood this idea of having a community whinging about developers taking their time when developing a computer game.

Do you ever hear people complain about filmmakers taking their time finishing a film? Probably, but they won't review the film negatively because of it.

There were idiots complaining about GRR Martin taking "too long" to finish his latest book.

Developers of any art DO NOT owe us anything, regardless if you purchase their product early or not. They just don't. Anyone who thinks that need a serious reality check and medicate against their sense of entitlement.
