Lots of those are from streams, a couple random screenshots thrown in that most people have seen, too. Also some of those are REALLY old.

Probably why I didn't see some of them, I only started following the game closely starting in like November. Most pics were on the Russian Starbound wiki, and it seemed outdated. Though... I don't speak Russian. But to me, whether they're old or new, they're new to me! And probably new to many!

Hmm. Does that mean that those variations of virorbs won't be in the game? It was mentioned it was merely a submission, not a pick/winner...

 

I think you're a bit confused. This is the picture thefluvirus put together for his contest entry. The Poptops, the Virobs, the Mindwurms and the Bad Moon have all been confirmed for the game, as they were the first and second place winners, though the Poptops are the only ones we know of with a dev drawn sprite.

As for EVERY variation of Virorb, I highly doubt it. Probably the red, green and blue ones only. At the very least, just the green one.

 

Personally, I was more interested in the pic of the logbook itself. To my knowledge, it would be the first time we've seen anything of the sort. Was that part of the contest as well? Both it, and the bulk of these pictures apparently, come from before my time on this forum.

 

I don't think we've seen the logbook in a long time, but yeah. If the Devs haven't changed it, it's still the same.
Basically, it's a picture that was edited for the Virorbs.
