Has anyone gone further than "First Contact" quest?

    Arguing logic in a game like Starbound is useless. Why can you survive in a land with freezing temperature via torches? Why is this unknown meat from aliens not poisonous? Why the hell do robots even use medieval architecture? Why do all planets have just the right atmosphere for you to warp down? How is it even possible to warp down to a planet like this?
    Starbound has its own universe, and it doesn't go by the laws of our real world. Maybe coal is actually a super productive material that's not actually made up of the same elements as our coal. You never know.

    Currently I've just unlocked tier 3 and was about to start scouting for a new base in the gamma sector. gotta build the inactive robot.. then kill said robot to advance. the guy is a level 20 boss and a little less irritating than the spaceship (mostly cause the bastard doesn't fly around) he was still 2-shotting me though. I just activated him at my beam-down point and hit him till he killed me, though at one point he actually snagged on a 3-block ledge and just kinda.. stopped, letting me pummel him back into the parts I built him from.

    No loyalty to one's own creator, I tells ya.

    One thing I did notice though, even though I was based on a threat 18 planet, I was never able to find any equipment higher than level 14 after many hours scouring multiple planets. I was using level 15 gear that I'd made myself. however once I defeated the boss, I found 9 different level 18 weapons on my home planet within 10 minutes, not sure what the story is there.

    They don't hover stationary above planets, have FTL drives or built-in teleporters either. And they can't travel to other solar systems yet.

    Very true, however, my point still stands. They don't run on wood, but they do travel to space. Also, all I was doing was replying to the guy that said spaceships weren't realistic. He's clearly wrong.

    Obviously this is far more advanced technology, in Starbound. So spaceships could possibly be incredibly fuel efficient, and so are able to run on relatively bad fuel sources.

    On an unrelated matter, I got pants, I will update my profile picture accordingly as soon as possible.

    Isn't that the space shuttle? Or some kind of? The spaceships in StarBound are more like the star trek type stuff. We can't fly spaceships far. The space shuttle.. shuttles.. people from the earth, too orbit, and back. That's what that is for. Starbound spaceships I am guessing are going the speed of light and all that stuff? We can't do that.

    Starbound spaceships are not realistic. We can't go from planet to planet. It BEAMS you down! would be awesome if the space shuttle BEAMED astronauts but.. sadly no :( I just don't think it's a big issue when you are talking about realism in a half sci fi game.

    Edit: I really didn't notice everyone else has been saying the exact same thing. haha.

    My theory on fuel (which is actually very off-topic from the first post);

    The year is "waaaaaaaaay in the future", and yes, that is a year. Mankind, and indeed many other species, have long since discovered the means of traveling through space. Scratch that. They have found a means of traveling through entire sectors of space in practically the blink of an ocular organ. With these powerful advancements in transportive technology came the normal issues. Including the infamous "I forgot to fill my gas tank before going to work and there isn't a gas station for miles" syndrome. Did they add extra fuel cells for these poor, unfortunate souls? No! (Well, yes, but that was a patch fix.)

    Instead, they design a system. This system, when installed on a ship, would condense any material to it's base energy in order to fuel your space vehicle. No more would be the days of sitting in space above a planet, staring at the glowing E for empty symbol on your futuristic dashboard! Just grab an old book or a handful of dirt and zip back home in an instant!

    Sadly, they couldn't make it work like that. Instead, they made a condenser that could convert anything that could feasibly be burned into a useable form and changed the systems from unleaded to diesel.

    He was saying that the spaceships in Starbound weren't realistic. Which they aren't.

    Not dinosaurs or plant based if that's what you are implying. I have no clue why schools ever taught that nonsense.

    I am having the same issue, I guess I'll just have to collect all that ore again.
