Has anyone found any npc spawners?

its weird that ive gotten past the shockhopper and i havent found a single one, yet they should appear in chests anyone know where you find em?

 

In your ship, once you upgrade it enough. You'll be able to craft a station that will let you craft them.

 

there are npc spawners that spawn vendors, and you cant craft those ones.

 

I've found one or two, a Chef and Doctor one. But yes, once you get past a certain ship Tier another panel appears on your ship where you can make an 'employment' station or something.

where exactly was it found? in a chest? the only one i ever found magically appeared in my inventory after going through one of those dungeons with the human guards who tell you to go away and the shitload of stims

 

Think it wasss in sssome sssort of cabinet.

 

wizards drop wizard spawners

i have also found stimpack spawners and chef spawners but i do not remember where i found them

 

Before stable, I found a ton of them in the Glitch wizard houses. They were down in the basement. Also, kiling the wizard would not only give you a wizard spawner but a free house as well.

Villager-spawners that you can craft have a bug, I noticed. Villagers tend to go full nudist. I then tried spawnin NPCs with admin commands and they wore clothes. So it has to be a bug with the spawners.

 

Only on your ship though. They suddenly gain a bit more decency when on planets.

 

Well, in space there are no laws (kinda like international water), so all of the villagers know that spaceships are meant for nudist mode and orgies.

 

Lol. I was excited when I found out that we could now craft basic villager and guard NPC's so I could make a starship crew. But with everyone in their skivvies I might as well be Zapp Brannigan

 

Speaking of spawning with admin commands, what different types of NPC are available? I've already spawned a merchant, and a guard. But how do I spawn a chef?

 

I found a Wizard spawner by killing one.

 

I was curious on this too, so I decided to snoop around in the assets to see what loot appears where. From what I could see, the Chef/Tool/Doctor spawners only have a very low chance to spawn in chests with 'common' loot. Basically, if you've ever found a pick/drill/hoe/flashlight in a chest, that was a "missed chance" at a spawner, since they're all a "tool" as far as loot generation is concerned.

 

what chests count as common loot?

 

Take the following with a grain of salt, as I haven't really dug through things enough to know for sure, but I believe that:
If it's a small brown chest on the surface, it has a 50% chance of having 'common' loot, and a 50% chance of having 'planet-type-specific' loot.
If it's a small brown chest underground, it has a 40% chance of having 'common' loot, and a 60% chance of not.
If it's a special biome (mushroom, flower, tar, bone, etc) chest, it has a 20% chance of having 'common' loot, with an 80% chance to have the limited range of special loot.

Percentages may also be off, as I'm not 100% sure how the weighting system is programmed.

Basically, if it's not a dungeon chest, weapon chest, or hi-tech chest, there's probably some chance at getting a spawner.

 

I've found a doctor and tool spawner, don't remember where. Killed both by accident shortly afterwards (every time...)

I don't think spawnrates of these have changed significantly.
