Has anybody else seen the NPCs farming?

I'm a little curious because I was told in the current version of the game that the NPC characters cannot interact with the environment at all. The first one I spawned in ran outside and started tilling soil. He didn't plant anything but being able to till soil shows that they are capable of changing the world around them. Is it only placeholder right now to show players that they will be able to do more later on, or are they going to be capable of planting seeds sometime in the near future?

Has anybody else seen them do this or anything similar?

 

The soil-tilling is all I've seen them do, too.
