Harvesting Plants Not Working?

Recently I've been trying to start a large farm so I can sell crops at the Outpost, and I wanted to know if something is going wrong with my game. Every time I harvest a plant, I don't get any extra seeds. Is this intentional or is it something broken with my game?

Many of the seeds have a very low % to drop on harvesting a plant (instead of picking it up for real).

    This is intentional.

The plants that don't need to be replanted when harvested will rarely drop seeds, as opposed to plants that are destroyed upon harvesting which will (I think) always drop extra seeds as well as the crop.

Naah, the crops that are harvested completely off the ground, have same chance to drop a extra seed as the crops that will remain and can regrow after watering.

Do you have any idea what the percentage is?

I don't know it and my sample size is probably too small, but I seem to get one extra seed for every 50 or so harvests... so 2%? though that could be either good luck or bad luck. Might help with a ballpark estimate kind of thing.

Do you have an recommendations on finding seeds or buying them with pixels? I'm trying to start a mass wheat farm.

The best way to do it that I know of is to run around Lush planets and pick everything that you find. Wheat does have a short timer at least if you do the plant + harvest+ hope method. I don't think you can buy them, or at least I haven't checked the right places if you can.

I think it's just a random chance. I've been doing tests with Pearlpeas and wheat, and with a sample size of about 150-ish, I've gotten about 3 extra seeds for each. A 2% chance sounds about right.

Last time I checked, all crops growing in wild no longer regrow (Atleast those which are not harvested completely, those that leave a plant that can regrow it's "fruits"), due to change on farm mechanics, requiring farm row and has to have those blocks watered.

the wild crops are not watered that's why they are not growing
and also the % of the crops getting is the crop/fruit rarity
i always get 2-6 seeds of flowers in my dye farm
and i get like 1/50 seeds from ancient/legendary plants (legendary plants lol )

Ah, to clarify I meant to uproot the wild plants to get the one seed from each. Early on it seems to be faster to me to get them one at a time by running across new planets than it is to hope for the ext.wra seed in your own harvest.

Another option, tenants will give seeds on occasion, though this is random and entirely unreliable.

I have crew members on my ship (tenants) that give me wheat seeds occasionally. Also, in one of the rooms for crew members, I have 2 metal crates, as well as a cheap fluorescent light and a modern sliding door. The human merchant that lives there saves me a trip to the outpost.

it's strange. back then we had too many seeds (or no usage for them), now it feels superlow. Way too low. There should be more seeds and soem receipes containing them.
I mean fruits contain seeds, don't they? so shouldn't I be able plant the rice itself? why is there seperate "rice seeds" or wheat. Or poatoes? A strange implementation of the farming feature in my opinion.

At least give us a receipe to process the fruits into seeds to make this a bit of a logical circle.
