Whoohoo! Celebrating 2 years of SDV! It's the 27th here now but shush I had homework all day. When did y'all start playing SDV? Regardless of how long, whew, it's crazy how the game is already this old... feels like forever ago, but at the same time, it's been a part of my life for two years and that sure flew by fast. Here's hoping to more years of SDV and concernedape greatness~
March 2016. I wasn't one of the long-time backers who followed the development but I was on-board within a couple of weeks of release.
I don't recall exactly when I started playing it. What I can say is that by April 16, 2017 I had played 264 hours of it. I know this because I state so in my first post on this forum. I started playing before version 1.1, I would guess just around 1.06, so that makes it March 2016. *blows a respectable amount of streamers* Happy Birthday SDV!
Hi and a happy new year to this incredibly addictive game! Personally I just started the game the 10th of this month (February), but I already spent a big part of my free time on the game and the wiki! Thank you very much ConcernedApe, even if you will probably not see this post, for this amazing and really funny game!
It's been two years already? Time flies. I haven't been playing long myself, only since October, when the game was released for the Switch. Feels like only yesterday when I finally got to play it, but since then, I've been obsessed with the game. I have been following it since reviews for it started showing up, though, just never played it because I didn't think it would work on my computer, seeing as I've had similar issues before.
It feels like forever ago? It feels like it was just yesterday! Where did those two years go? But anyway, I've been playing since Feb 29 2016, almost since the release of the game and was crazy addicted for about a year. I've had a blast with this game, definitely looking forward to the next update as well as whatever comes next from CA Happy anniversary
Joined this forum on Jan. 16th so must've started the week before. Really played a lot since switching to the Switch. Didn't think I'd like a HM type game on the PC and I was right. Happily going into 6th winter now.
Grabbed it the moment it released. This has been one of the best times I have had with a single game in 30 years of playing them. SDV will forever be one of my top favorites of all time, with a special place in my heart.
I guess it's been just over a year for me. I was so tired of the regular games I was playing and wanted something non-action, relaxing and didn't require you to 'log in' every day for daily bonuses or to grind 'dailies'. Since I learned that I really enjoyed growing stuff on my balcony, I decided to look for a nice farming game, with no idea if there even was such a thing. I googled and found SDV. I checked it out on GOG and put it in my wishlist. When it went on sale a couple weeks later I grabbed it and have been happily addicted ever since!
December 2016. I stumbled upon and bought it during some Steam sale (months before I bothered to launch it!). I didn't know about it during development, didn't really know anyone who played it, and never played a Harvest Moon game. I bought it because it had great reviews and I like games with simulation or base-building elements. Didn't expect it to consume my life, whoops!
I watched a Paul Soar Jr. video on youtube and something appealed to me. I purchased it STV as soon as it was released.
Given when my oldest achievement is, early March 2016. I've been a fan of farm-sims since Harvest Moon: Back to Nature and when I found out this was "Harvest Moon for the computer" it was "GIMME MY MONEY ALREADY" I was at first thrown by the fighting mechanic since HM didn't have fights but otherwise I was thinking "yep, definitely Harvest Moon for the computer". Like @Lilliput I wasn't a backer but purchased it pretty soon after it was released.
I'd been out of gaming since about 2005. On YouTube I'd seen Zelda: BotW videos and thought that it was simply incredible, considering that I had basically ignored the gaming world since my Tribes 2 days. In my digging around for BotW videos I came across the hype around Stardew Valley's coming release on the Switch, and it struck a tone with me. I never played Harvest Moon, but knew what it was. SV's retro, pixel art style, and massive, positive community support made me put SV onto my wishlist with BotW, but it ended there, just wishes. I wasn't a gamer, hadn't been for a long time, and really had no intention of ever buying a Switch. In August 2017, I discovered SV ran in Steam, and Steam ran on Linux, and it was all either dirt cheap or free. Since then Stardew Valley is the only game I play, and I play far too much of it. I'm late to the party, but Happy Birthday anyway.
Sometime late in 2016. I then recommended it to my wife, after purchasing it via GOG. I won't say I play it with the passion put to use in my old griefs, but I dont' expect to stop playing it for some time to come.
Apparently joined March 23rd, 2016 so some time before that likely. I can't recall how I found this place so not sure how much before though tbh. I just happened to find out about the game IDK how even because my brain isn't very good. Definitely enjoyed this game and still am.
Does this mean Grandfather's spirit is going to be showing up at the end of the year to judge how much success CA's had since launch?
Made friends, made money, brought the community together. All in all, I think all the candles were lit.
