Handsome Jack-like NPC

Basically an NPC within the game (maybe accessible through some long side quest chain) that sends messages to you in a similar way that Handsome Jack does in Borderlands 2. It could be either a direct reference to borderlands or a completely new NPC that just send random, funny, death wishes to you. It would definitely be a nice way to liven up the game a bit for those who are playing alone . Perhaps this NPC could also either have a direct affiliation with the main antagonist or he/she could be an old childhood kid that the protagonist picked on or something.

Let me know what you guys think for those who haven't played Borderlands 2, I strongly recommend it, but if you just want to know who Handsome jack is i'm sure there are a few videos on youtube or something. You'll definitely get a good laugh!

edit: Guys, I only put "Handsome-jack" in the title because borderlands 2 is the most recent well-known game and I feel that Handsome Jack plays his roll as a comical, antagonizing villain very well. There have been many other games. movies. etc. with similar characters. I didn't suggest that handsome jack be in the game, I suggested that a SIMILAR NPC was made.

PAUSE!! AND HOLD IT RIGHT THERE! We are not stealing that dush bag guy charater into this game, reason why we hadn't ask the creators permission for it.

 

We don't have to "steal" him, but we could have a completely different character who still has the same sense of humor an what-not.

 

main problem, ppl is not going like it because your stealing his name and your stealing someone work >.> to make that name.

What he means is to have a character who is only similar to Handsome Jack. He isn't asking for him to just be in the game or appear as an expy. What he wants is a character who acts similarly to him in that he hates you and wants you to die with Poptops nibbling at your corpse.

 

I think if he could only send messages if you are on his planet/in his system that'd be cool. And then killing him once will make him never respawn again, but there'd be random NPCs like him every so often.

 

What Brixmon said. I'm not asking for the devs to make handsome jack himself, i'm asking for an NPC SIMILAR to him, in that he hates you and wants you to die, but expresses it in a comical way

 

Well, I don't see that as being a problem. Lots of video games do that these days. Both Portals, Quantum Conundrum (although Prof. Quadrangle proved to care about you in the end) Solar 2 to an extent. Even Dungeons of Dredmor has random insults flung at you, albeit not from the main villain, and not from one source.

 

yea it stealing someone works of simlar idea even u alternate that guy, it still stealing if you put same main part story, it still stealing the name and story.

 

I'll approve of it only if he has a living horse made out of a valuable material for the sole purpose of mocking you.

A bit more seriously, I think an antagonistic NPC who lives only to mock you would be pretty fun if pulled off correctly. Otherwise they'd just be annoying and your first objective would probably be to seek him out and eliminate him.

Uhhh... what? Unless I'm misinterpreting this post, I don't think using a concept previously used for a character for a completely different character is exactly bad. By that logic, every game with a princess who gets kidnapped would be stealing from Super Mario Brothers(Technically Donkey Kong, if you just replace Princess with Damsel.)
I don't think he was really asking for him to have a main part in the story either, just as the subject of side-quests. And I thought we've established that it probably wouldn't be exactly Handsome Jack.

 

Just think of him of the main bad guy of starbound i mean like Robotnic & Sonic, Pokemon black & N, Vault hunter & Hansome jack

 

We shouldn't have a direct concept of Handsome Jack, maybe a similar idea but certainly not a straight-on same character.
Personally, I wouldn't want him in the game though.

U know what, I don't want developers waste their time making handsome jack because he is from borderland which ppl is going not going to like no matter what it is side quest or not. I only think it is waste time making him to be one and what is point someone have to go though pain in the "tin can" to remake every spot new version of him and write down different story line for him. For the truth, I don't want developers do this at all.

First off, I just want to tell you that I AM NOT ASKING FOR HANDSOME-JACK, BUT A SIMILAR CHARACTER. HANDSOME JACK NO, SIMILAR YES.

Also, since when do you speak for the entire starbound community, saying that everyone wouldn't like handsome jack in the game? Which isn't even what i suggested. It's fine if you don't like it, but there are others that do and/or would.
